Biwa

For the longest time I’ve been trying to add a fixed blade knife to my on-body EDC. I’ve tried several, in several different carry positions. So far, this one is the best I’ve come up with. It’s short enough to fit in a front pocket (where I carry it) but probably too long for neck carry. The sheath that come with it isn’t very good, or else you could probably carry it on your belt. About the sheath… I replaced the one that came with it, with a kydex one I made at home. It’s not pretty, but it’s better than the original. There’s a version of this knife that comes with a leather sheath; that would probably be the one to buy. Mostly I use the knife for food prep, or eating lunch on the go. The blade shape is perfect for that task. I don’t think it would be a good defensive blade; it’s too small for that. It would also be pretty good at many other light-duty EDC tasks. It’s a good knife, from a well-known company, at a good price. Definitely worth your consideration.

Nice knife. Nice backup, or secondary fixed blade in the backwoods. Good neck knife for a lady to conceal.

This seems like it would be a great bird and trout knife - even good for gutting a deer, but I bought it for my wife to use as a letter opener. She loves it.

Overall, very happy with this knife! It’s factory sharp and has a great feel and was exactly what I was looking for. As stated in other reviews, the retention on the sheath is not as tight as I would like, but that can easily be fixed with a heat gun and a little pressure. I’ll be carrying this knife scout style but I would prefer a pressure style clip for mounting instead of a belt loop. All that being said, I really like this knife!

The knife is very well made, sharp and appears to be of really good quality. However, the sheath is absolute garbage. Not enough retention for me to trust that this won’t come loose and impale my feet if wearing around my neck. Comes with a belt adapter as well but also not good as it only mounts to the bottom holes making this wildly uncomfortable to wear on your belt. My best suggestion is to buy the knife for the knife not the sheath. Make a sheath yourself that meets your needs

Got this for my husband for Christmas. He loved it! Nice weight and grip. It was a great addition to his collection.

Excelente cuchillo para EDC El material de las cachas es suave con una textura mate. Tiene cachas G10 ( fibra de vidrio y resina comprimidos ) y el filo es de 8cr13mov un metal común bueno para mantener el filo y fácil de afilar. Resistente a la corrosión y que requiere poco cuidado. Aquí la comparo con la “Tasty” de CRKT otro excelente cuchillo de EDC. El filo de la Biwa es ligeramente más largo (2cm aprox.) y tiene otro diseño un poco mas agresivo en la punta, la Tasty se parece mucho a una Victorinox pero de hoja fija. Ambas tienen el mango del mismo tamaño dando un agarre cómodo de 3 o 4 dedos. En la Biwa el garrare es más firme gracias a las cachas. En grosor ambos filos miden lo mismo de ancho. La parte superior del cuchillo en la Biwa no tiene filo es solo una muesca lo cual permite su portación legalmente ya que en algunos lugares los cuchillos con doble filo no lo son. La funda de la Biwa es de buena calidad no parece que se vaya a salir solo el cuchillo lo mismo con la tasty. Esto era algo que me hacía dudar por algunos comentarios que llegue a leer en Amazon de ambos modelos. Llevo dos años con la Tasty y no parece que esto vaya a ocurrir nunca. Ambos tienen el mismo modelo de clip para ponerlo en el cinturón, aunque la Biwa la venden como cuchillo para el cuello; llega con un cordón negro y largo para poderlo usar así. Al momento de comprarla la foto del producto cambio mostrando el nuevo modelo en negro. Las diferencias con el de la foto son: Cachas de micarta ( tela comprimida con resina) en color negro El filo que es de material 12c27 en lugar de 8cr13mov Y la funda que tendría que llegar es de cuero y no plástica o de keblar. Esto lo puedes tomar en cuenta dependiendo del uso y cuidados que le quieras dar a tu cuchillo. En conclusión un buen cuchillo para la colección, discreto para portar y ligero El paquete llego bien con un día de anticipación. El rastreo no fue tan preciso y tuve que seguirlo en dos aplicaciones de paquetería shipentegra y paqueteexpress. Al final el producto llego bien ya que este era mi único temor por las reseñas que vi del vendedor y por el cambio repentino en la foto del producto lo cual me hizo dudar sobre que modelo me iba a llegar. Pero todo fue seguro y en orden.

This Allen Folts designed knife from Columbia River Knife & Tool - CRKT- or as some people call them Cricket is perfect no matter how you slice it. It is a most welcomed addition to my daily drivers. Its blade came razor sharp out of the box. My paper slice these was a few days after its original arrival and after HEAVY daily uses and tests. I had four paper test videos immediately prior to this video that I junked. All do to fails on my part and not this little beaut! Its case is well designed and has multiple ways to carry. Either with its supplied belt rung, via its paracord, its also so slim you can just carry it in your pocket. Without taking up a bunch of precious real estate. As pictured I like to have the paracord passed over and through verses the standard way it comes. I find it allows for a more reliable and confident retrieval. I like that it also has a small hole in the tip allowing for water to pass and air to flow. Eliminating the risk of sweating and building up condensation. My ONLY mention is that I wish there was more indexing on the case as it does only enter one way and it would help when you blindly holstering your blade. I’ve made my own modification to rectify that. Also while its insert is slightly comical it is full of what NOT to do in a survival situation. Where’s that tree going to fall? What edibles and bugs are you eating? Anywho thats a side note you can explore. I’ve attached it all for your enjoyment 😆 Overall, this blade from CRKT is most definitely recommendable and I will be purchasing another to have for the future. The day i received this I was heading out to go ice fishing. I own a few pocket knives and fixed blade knives and this one is now my favourite. Its very sturdy and well built, came razor sharp and weighs nothing. I used it to prepare lunch when we were out there and clean out 2 large rainbow with ease that we pulled out of the ice. This is a must for anyone's tackle box if weight is an issue. Its a lot like a pairing knife you would find in the kitchen but made for camping. The only problem i have with it is that i wish I'd gotten it sooner.

I don't know why I prefer a fixed blade as my purse knife, but I have a few from LT Wright, Cudeman, Boker, and others, and this little CRKT is going to be a favorite. Not as sturdy as my others, but mostly it's for small jobs like opening packages. For bigger jobs, get a bigger knife. Quite well made, very sharp, and good looking, what's not to like? The sheath could hold a bit tighter (fix with a lighter), and I used my own spring clip on it, but no other complaints. I think the negative reviews are from people who did not understand the size of this small knife. It's not for skinning moose. Good bird and trout knife tho....

This knife is awesome! So far been out twice ice fishing with it and it had no issues bleeding 16-20 pike with the factory edge and still doesn’t really need a sharpening also was used to cut a few 1/4 thick branches for fishing Great size and feel, not the best sheath and pocket clip doesn’t line up to have it as “in pocket” carry but Would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an all around great fishing/hunting knife!
