Fun useful device for the hobbyist, student and even professional.
I'm a fan of Techmoan's [...]youtube videos. He recently reviewed this unit. Being a camera nerd I tried to come up with an excuse to buy one. A few weeks later at a picnic a friend brought out his Lanparte Gimbal and I was hooked. I could see the value of having one of these devices, even just for fun. Even though this one is much more expensive than some of the others, the feature list is impressive. Since this isn't going to be used for "professional" videos I figured I'd just get the basic unit, without the remote. However when I started using it I realized it would be perfect for a stationary camera recording using an app like Rico Live, which I use to record presentations at club meetings. Of course this meant I would need the remote control, which I was able to order separately thanks to Bela-tv (although it was more expensive than if I would have ordered the package). But I'm also able to use a 1" schedule 40 PVC pipe as a jib arm, and for getting the "dog's eye view of the world" shot without having to crawl on the ground, again using Rico Live to view the image being recorded on the iPhone. Note that if you use PVC I'm sure the grip will wear sooner than if you use a monopod or proper mount, which I plan on purchasing soon. But the PVC option is there if you need to fake a drone shot or other extreme view. There are 3 modes: Red, green and blue, as signified by the LED. The red mode will pan when you twist the handle left or right and won't tilt the camera. You can use the joypad to level the camera. The green mode works like the Lanparte gimbal, twisting will pan and swinging the handle will control tilt. The joypad will control pan/tilt as well. The blue mode will keep the camera in one position and on the same plane no matter what you do with the gimbal. The joypad will control pan and tilt. I like blue mode the best although it does require a lot of forethought before shooting or you'll end up at the stops pretty quickly. The joypad (and remote) aren't proportional so although you can push the pan while "panning" with the gimbal you can only do it at one speed. The red and green modes are more proportional, although they can be outrun too.I've attached a (poor quality) video I just took in the front yard showing an extremely low shot (into the Sun, sorry), using a PVC pipe, and in slow-mo mode to show how easy it is to get interesting moving camera shots. Note the gimbal was in "blue" mode. The phone (iPhone 5S) got very confused and wouldn't focus, but look at how nice the motion looks. I'm sure the newer generation cameras will do a better job of shooting (I'll find out when the 7 comes out).

Excellent Gimbal!!!
I have done a very long research on what gimbal to buy for my needs. This is an awesome product. Please, see the video that proves it. The videos with gimbal are much smoother than the ones without it. I'm very satisfied. Also, it has a bluetooth connection to your iphone so you can take pictures/videos remotely. On the bottom, there is a mount for a monopod or tripod. Using monopod and gimbal together makes a great crane for shooting above the head movies. Simply, this is a great product.
