Can it be used outdoor in the garden?

Unusual question, although designed for use as a day bed in the home, I cannot see any reason to not use it in the garden. Whether or not the metal frame is waterproof sufficiently for outside use is another question I cannot answer. I would have thought that the sheer size of the day bed - it is a full size single bed size - would be conducive to use a a garden seat is rather debateable and entirely a personal choice. I would also query as to if the guarantee would be null and void if it was used in the way suggested.

I should imagine you would be able to buy replacement nuts and bolts from your local builders merchant quite easily. The ones supplied with the Day-Bed are strong and I have not experienced any breakages, but the company did add a few extra to the original kit in case one or two got "lost".

Do metal rods support mattress ok or does the mattress slip or move around? Trying to decide it this works or if one with wooden slats is better?

The matters doesn’t move around on the metal slats our mattress fit perfect and they was easy to put together
