They shouldn’t have a light up blink every minute, but whatever you can cover that.

The alarm itself is good quality. But why do they give you such cheap ineffective gypsum board plastic inserts? If you follow the instructions for the hole size for drilling, they rotate when you try to tighten the screws for the mounting bracket, preventing a good tight mount on the wall or ceiling. If you make the hole smaller, the tabs on the plastic inserts can break when inserted, making them useless. Geez! Why can't the manufacturer spend a few dimes more to supply good quality inserts!!

I highly recommend this product for its ease of use!! Simple install. Clear Instructions. And an indicator light that tells you it is working.First off, the instructions tell you where in your home to place the detectors! All the existing ones in the home were place incorrectly!! The ones in the bed rooms were hanging up right over the door but far away from the ceiling. x-sense tells you that they need to be mounted less than 3 feet from the top of the ceiling.Second of all, They are easy to remove.... not that I need to change batteries anymore, but if I burn the garlic bread, as I am prone to do, I can pull it down while I air out the house.AND Best of all there is a light!!!! Green means its working, yellow means it is not working and RED means DANGER.

Hung the combination smoke detector / carbon monoxide detector two weeks ago. It was easy to hand and the two things I liked most were the combination of the two detectors and the inclusion of the battery (I didn't have to worry about finding the right battery or the right number of batteries). Just a note: This device is in the basement and I hung the directions and the 'warning' information in a baggie on the wall next to the device. It's easy to keep track of and I don't have to worry about important information going missing.
