Slow and Steady
I have this mounted on my 10 foot utility trailer. I fabricated and welded an additional mounting plate to face tongue side of the trailer to mount the winch on. I mainly use this for lawnmowers and small tractors that do not run to get them on the trailer. I haven't had any problems and it pulls whatever I have needed it to. A huge perk for me, and the main reason I purchased this particular winch is that it uses the same controller as my 8000 pound Suerwinch on my car trailer so I don't have to carry different controllers for the two winches. For powering the winch, I have 25' of 6 gauge pure copper cable with clamps Road Power 400C-2 500-Amps Booster Cable Clamps, Red/Black, 2-Pack on one end, and mini Anderson style connectors HYCLAT 6-10 GAUGE Battery Quick Connect/Disconnect Wire Harness Plug Connector Recovery Winch Trailer on the ends of the cables to connect them. I store this cable along with the controller in a small toolbox Better Built 67011386 ATV Tool Box that is mounted on the tongue of the trailer. This way when I use the trailer, it doesn't matter which truck I use, I will have what I need to power the winch. I can also loan the trailer out to friends or family, and they will have what is needed. I have used the winch about 30 times as of the review and it is holding up very well and I am happy with it. I only have 2 small complaints. First, it is slow, but it beats having to move dead equipment, especially 2000 pound tractors, or using a cable puller. Second is the freespooling control. It's a bit different and sticks every now and then, but is minor. I can always use power to run the winch out. Long story short, it works very well and if I would need a second winch of this capacity, I will no doubt buy another one.

Works on Polaris RZR, nice alternative to normal ATV winch
Consider this winch instead of traditional winch labeled as an ATV winch. Advantages of this unit include the solenoid is in a plastic box attached to winch. You do not have to wire a separate circuit for solenoid. You do not have to find a switched 'hot' wire to activate the solenoid. Once installed on ATV, UTV, or what ever, all you need is to connect the main wire leads to power source and you are ready to go. Most winch operations end up with winch operated from foot near front of UTV so no need for a switch inside. For the Polaris RZR, the battery leads were too short. My winch is mounted on top of a substantial front bumper. I ran winch power leads under RZR front hood. Then I connected the negative lead to a frame bolt which holds radiator. I added a heavy gauge multi strand wire to the winch positive lead so it would reach battery. Wire ties hold everything snug. A nice simple installation. Box mounted on winch is plastic and even though not sealed at its base, any water should drain downward so little chance of water damage to connections. I added dielectric grease to control connector on top of solenoid box as added protection against moisture.

Great winch.....better than super customer service..
TI bought this winch to pull my ,mobility scooter up a ramp and into the side door of my Cargo Van. The winch is excellent, but the remoite control gave me fits. Superwinch, though, is an incredible company, seriously focused on customer service. In the two years I've had the winch the toggle switch remote control has failed 3 times. Each time I called Superwinch and they sent me a new control module and the corded remote, even after the warranty had run out. Last week, the remote failed for the fourth time (again the winch is super...the remote isn't). I wrote a nice email to Superwinch explaining that I was a disabled American who needed a dependable winch to get my scooter in an out of the van. I explained that it is exasperating when you have gone shopping and return to find that the remote control quit again and I couldn't get my scooter back into the van. Today, about five days after I sent that email Mike from Superwinch called to tell me he was sorry for the problems I've experienced and that he was sending me a brand new superwinch of the same power, but different design. He said the problems I've had are very unlikely to be repeated. This is now a full year after the warranty had run out on my old winch. I am blown away. It is rare that you get that kind of customer service anymore, but Superwinch has proved to me several times that they take their commitment to customers quite seriously. They should have another five star choice for customer service on this Amazon site because certainly Superwinch would get five plus from me. At age 77 I've bought a lot of things from a lot of companies in my lifetime, few if any have treated me with this kind of respect and concern. Thank you Superwinch....you are the best!!!!! . I bought it as a cheap and easy way to get my mobility scooter in the side doors of our Chevy express and it worked beautifully. I had to build a shelf for it to sit on and then attached the shelf to the wall of t h e van. I Bought an Aluminum ramp from Amazon and a jump start AGM battery from an auto parts store. I got the battery because it fits well between the seats and can be recharged by plugging in to the 12 volt socket in the van. That means I never have to take the battery out. For a little over $300 i have a safe, easy and quick way to get the scooter in and out. This winch would pull many times the scooter weight but I bought it because it came with the mounting plate, a better remote control and was easily mountable. Installed it, connected to battery, and scooter and it worked perfectly on first try. This winch will save my and my wife's backs. No more lifting. We love this winch! It s now April of 2015 and twice the winch has control module has failed. On both occasions the winch would not reverse and I could not get my mobility scooter out of the van. That's a major inconvenience. The company was very responsive both times and sent me, free of charge, the control box that sits on top of the winch and that corrected the problem. The winch works fine, but the controller is suspect. This is great service and would cause me to do business with them again and to recommend them to others. I think, though, that the company had better look into what is causing the control module to fail. Knowing what I do now, I would buy from Superwinch again, I just wouldn't buy this particular winch.

great price too
Works as it should, great price too. Update..... Its been over a year now, used 2 seasons, I use to lift a full size snow plow (600 lbs) on my Bronco, and to haul logs and stuff around my property. A month or so after I bought it, it started to act up, no up no down, very intermittent, but a pain when your plowing. After a few more months the mounted switch box had to be replaced, and it cracked where the remote cord plugs in. Superwinch did send me a replacement, worked fine all winter. However as I was getting ready for this winter it started to act up again, not having time to see what was wrong I bought a new winch, its a beefier Superwinch that should be better. I will open the Ut3000 up and see what went wrong, maybe I can use it on my trailer, if it works.

Pretty Good Winch for the price
Pro: inexpensive, works good, fast order fulfillment, free shipping, packaged well Con: questionable quality control Would've been nice: if it included a quick connect plug for power and a mounting plate designed for trailer mounting I opened the box, checked it out briefly and then it sat for 2 weeks while I waited for the quick connector (for power) to arrive from another vendor that was placed on same order. The included mounting plate was not designed to facilitate mounting to a trailer tongue but I got creative and made it work for me. Upon first use, when I went to plug the remote in, I noticed that the connector at the control box was loose due to both "ears" on the connector housing being broken because the screws had been over tightened at the factory (it was well packed so it was not shipping damage). Since I have the tools to do so, I ended up making a metal plate to put over the tabs and screwed it back in - it will be ok now. I have used it a good bit since with no problem and so I actually forgot to contact the mfr about sending a new part (not a readily end user replaced part btw, so it would need a whole new control box sent to me). If it had not had the broken part I would give 4 stars and if the quick connector came with it then 5. I've had the winch in use for over a month now. I purchased it for my small, 4x8 utility trailer to rig it as a "dump" bed and also for winching items too heavy for me to lift or push up ramps, onto the trailer. From my limited use so far it works very good for those purposes. I wish I had thought to use a cheap winch to turn my trailer with 4x8 sides on it into a dump bed a long time ago since I use it often to haul brush and fully packed with leaves that are a real pain to unload by hand and this was a great way to do it for under $150 total cost including plywood, 2x4s and pulley. I mounted the winch on front of the trailer, put a pulley at the top of the front wall and made a "false floor" from sheet of plywood and 2x4 frame that gets winched up 4 feet high in front. I was not sure if it would actually work but it works great - everything comes right out - just winch it up and pull forward a few feet). The remote works nice and has a good length of cable for my 8 foot trailer bed - probably too short for any trailer bed over 12 feet if you want to stand in back with it. The included (12 gauge) length of power cable was just long enough to attach the quick connector and be able to plug it into the other end on the rear bumper. It was a disappointment that the connector for the remote was broke but otherwise it gives the impression of good quality and has worked very well for me - as good as my expectations. Possibly even a bit of overkill for my use. It is the first and only winch I have owned so I have nothing else to compare it to but it sure beats a come-along or hand winch that I was also considering for my purpose. I think its non rolling capacity may be only a few hundred lbs depending on the resistance of the item and the ground being covered. In my case the limiting factor is my trailer since the winch would probably rip it apart before failing to pull an object toward it. I've seen frequent mention of car hauler usage in other comments and based on my limited experience with the UT3000, I think you would want at least a 5000 lb rated or better winch for a car hauler, especially if you are hauling older vehicles that have been sitting off pavement, 4x4s, pickups or old vehicles with flat tires or that don't steer.

Great for easily rolling truck camper into garage!!!
What a relief!!! We can now very easily roll our truck pop-up camper (on a 4 wheel cart) into our very tight garage space. It was VERY hard to push it in and get the cart tires to roll over the small garage bumps. Also was hard to keep the camper straight which was a problem due to the garage door opening being so narrow. The effort to push a bit uphill was too stressful for two of us. This winch works perfectly!!!! One of us runs the remote control and the other simply keeps the camper rolling in a straight line. No effort needed! The winch pulls very slowly which is just what we needed. Did not want anything to go too fast, without time to adjust. It pulls from the 50 foot cord very well with no loss of power. We mounted the winch to the garage concrete floor, then put a hook on the cart to attach the cable. Would highly recommend if you have a similar situation! The camper weighs in at about 2000 pounds and there was no issue with the weight.

Superwinch not so super....
The winch is fine, until the motor control fails. I probably used the winch less than 10 times when it stopped working in the out direction. I did a little research and learned this is a pretty common occurrence and itโs a failure in the box that controls the motor. The replacement part for this box is more expensive than the winch! Iโm buying a new winch, but certainly not a Superwinch.

winch
We bought this for our DR tow and dump trailer which hauls our logs and winches the logs up onto the trailer that is set up for 10 ft. logs. It works great. It is a lot better that the hand winch that came with the trailer. It is strong enough -weight wise 3,000 lbs. We also hooked it up to out BX 22 Kubota tractor battery for power. Quite a setup, does not take long to load and unload once you have got a use to it and the system. Excellent buy on my part. Very easy to assemble .
