it is excellent. Tried to use an old adapter
Apart from the fact that an adapter was missing, meaning the wiper could not actually be fitted to our car, it is excellent. Tried to use an old adapter, but it did not fit properly. Nevertheless, I activated the windscreen wipers and they work for a stroke or ten, but kept jumping out of the adapters. (Need to contact PIAA for a correct adapter....) BUT we went on holiday with normal wiper and did not need to use them when the rain came down. The silicon layer these wiper blades leave on the windscreen really does work. Excellent vision without wiper use, windscreen stayed much cleaner than usual for the three week period, even with the use of normal wiper blades. Normally this is an issue with our old Saab....not this time.

Well Worth The Money!
I live in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) and bought these wipers just prior to Christmas so I've had some time with them. Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with their performance.Cons: In the winter when we were in some extremely cold runs of weather (below -25 C) I had a problem with the wiper blade popping out of the frame on the far tip of the passenger side. It wouldn't do it all the time but something I had to keep an eye on and simply had to press the end of the blade into the frame when it did pop out. I attribute it to a couple of things. First off, I have a '98 F-150 and there is a lot of curvature towards the sides of the windshield so the wiper on the passenger side actually does not contact the windshield surface in that area when the blade is fully down or in the stow position (of all the different brands that I've tried, I haven't found one that can contour to that curve). Second, given the cold conditions I assume the metal of the frame contracted just slightly enough to allow the blade to pop out when it was not in contact with the windshield. I thought about crimping that one clamping area a little but I wanted to wait and see how it played out.I do have a bit of a squeak when the wipers are on but nothing major.Pros: These wipers really excel in rainy conditions (as opposed to winter conditions where they also performed very well). Between the treatment wipe for the windshield and the the water repellant built into the blades, they are absolutely amazing. Before I purchased the blades I used "Rain-X" on the windshield but haven't had since installing them. Yesterday I had to make a highway drive of about four hours which was all done in downpour conditions. I never once had to turn the wipers on any higher than the "Low" setting and that was only when passing transport trucks, any other time I had them on an intermediate setting. Visibility was never an issue when obviously other vehicles on the road were having problems. When not around traffic I could have shut the wipers off and still had great visibility with the water just beading off the windshield. The wipers did a great job of clearing the water with no streaking.I have tried several different brands of wipers but these certainly have gained top spot in my eyes and definitely would recommend them to family and friends!

The Silicone Difference
I never thought I'd be writing a passionate review about wiper blades, but here we are. After my old blades gave up the ghost, I read that silicone might actually be worth the extra money. Turns out, they were right. These PIAA blades push water aside with a confidence my previous blades never possessed. The way rain beads up and slides off the glass is genuinely satisfying, like watching nature's own windshield cleaner at work. Driving in the downpour has transformed from a squinty, anxiety-inducing experience to something almost serene. Installation wasn't exactly plug-and-play. There was some prep work involved, which I suppose is the price of admission for better performance. And yes, these blades cost significantly more than the standard options at the auto store. But after experiencing the clarity they provide on a stormy commute, I've decided they're worth the investment. It's funny how something so simple can make such a difference in daily life. My windshield has never been happier, and neither have I on those rainy days when visibility matters most.

Worth It
You'll never want to go back to "regular" (non-silicone) wipers again after using these. They are on track to last 40,000 miles and retain a clear wiper swipe through the rain- a feature which you will come to appreciate. These standard beam units don't do well in snow- they tend to carry frozen chunks and thud like other beam units. As far as fitting- buy the blade bracket (like these) the FIRST time you buy PIAA, THEN, next time buy their inserts only when you replace them, e.g. at 40,000 miles. PIAA 94045 Silicone Wiper Blade Refill, 18" (Pack of 1)Don't try to fit the inserts into your current other-brand bracket. As you can read from other comments, there are lots of fit problems if you start with the inserts; it is not worth trying to for the $5 or so you will save one-time.For rain or melting snow, these are MUCH clearer than standard wipers and will last 1-2 years, MUCH longer than the competition.UPDATE 25,000 MILES: These do not wipe crystal clear like they did when new but still are MUCH clearer than standard rubber wipers. They now will squeak (drag noise) slightly if run on a dry windshield, but no noise if there is any moisture on the windshield. It is apparent some negative reviews come from those who did not apply the silicone prep wipe before installing the wipers- you must clean your window and apply the prep first, you cannot skip that step. You only do it one time. The blades themselves are still in good shape; the edges are well-defined. They are on track to last 30,000 - 40,000, probably the top end of that range.UPDATE 35,000 MILES: The wipers lost their clarity at about 35,000 miles and were replaced with the inserts only. Load the inserts with the tiny divets that fit into the wiper arm saddle facing the bottom of the blade. Leave the small plastic clips (mine were blue) on the blade and let your insertion push them off the blade. Otherwise, the metal shims in the blades will fall out and you will have a tedious mess to put back together. The new inserts clarified the wiping and the original silicon windshield treatment still beads rain on the windshield. There is now a slight whir noise on the highest wiper speed. I hope that will go away.Overall, I'm satisfied.*** TRICK TO MAKING THESE LAST WELL THROUGH 40-45K: thoroughly clean your wiper blades every 7,500 miles and polish your windshield with Nu-Finish every 15k or so. ***UPDATE 5 YEARS LATER: Great wipers, better than any other I have tried; I seem to get an average of 37,500 miles out of them with suitable wiping clarity, but that does vary. Do thoroughly clean your wiper blades (Scott Towel and window washer fluid) every 7,500 miles, but do NOT use Nu-Finish on the windshield.... it will break down the silicone wipe you used to treat the windshield when you first got thePIAA's. But periodic cleaning of the wiper itself extends life and clarity.
