Appreciated more the longer I've owned it
I'll start off with the positive aspects. It's sturdily built, powered by PoE and some API's for programmers. It looks nice and I'm sure it's impressive at a trade show. I installed with 23AWG COPPER SOLID CAT-5 with a length from the PoE switch of 40 feet.I've had several issues and wished I'd taken the other poor reviews more seriously. I'm an engineer and had the arrogance to think the other reviewer's problems were due to operator-error.Before I installed this unit, I ran it through several tests and it appeared to be fine. But as soon as it went to real-world use, it failed. The first thing I noticed is the iOS Push Door Bell is so quiet, it can only be heard in a quiet room (volume has no effect and all "ring tones" are quiet).Camera: My door (and this DoorBird) faces south. The camera image is good for looking at the landscape but faces are backlit and dark making them nearly impossible to identify. There's only brightness and contrast on the adjustments and the app warns you with "change the values only in exceptional cases". (Hikvision cameras give you several adjustments to the sensor to accommodate lighting issues.) To see faces I had to turn up the brightness and turn down the contrast giving the image a very washed out appearance.Audio: DoorBird designed this so you can communicate with the visitor. Unfortunately, it's inaudible. Adjusting the volume higher creates distortion so that's not useful. The microphone which transmits audio to the app is also too quiet and I can't hear anything. Bottom line for audio is it's useless using PoE power.IR (InfraRed for night): The only choices for settings are "Automatic" or "Off" (compared to Hikvision which gives you several options such as time of day.) I have it set to automatic but apparently a sidewalk lamp post fools the sensor because I've only noticed the IR light on once. You can manually turn on the IR light but the software warns you it will turn off after 3 minutes. How that helps is beyond my comprehension. You can forget about using this for night security.Motion: Unlike some others, I found the motion alarm to be pretty reliable - maybe because I can block every area except the sidewalk leading to the door. [Edit:I did get this to record snapshots.] At night, by the time I receive the motion push notification and turn on the IR lamp too much time has elapsed making this novel but unsuitable for security.Support: I contacted Doorbird via website form and here's the snippets of conversation:May 24-Me: "volume is inaudible. It can only be heard in a super-quiet anechoic chamber..."May 24-DoorBird: "We would like to offer to perform a server sided functional test for your device...need credentials"May 24-Me: I replied with my credentialsMay 26-Me: "Any progress? I've got some additional issues..."May 30-DoorBird: "We are sorry for the late response due to public holidays in Germany. Our product specialists are checking the device and we get back to you as soon as possible."Jun 2-Me: "Any word yet?"It's now June 8 and I've received no more responses leaving me with questions. Are they out of business? Do they know this product doesn't meet described specifications?I would not recommend buying it and I'm seriously considering a return if these issues are not addressed in the next week.2017-06-10 UpdateI received the following email from Doorbird which helped resolve some of the above issues. I think most of the issues are due to confusing software which I'm hoping will evolve. I will not be returning the product. (When updating this review, I also added the parenthesis on the title.)[Email from Doorbird on June 9]Thank you for your request and your patience. We always try to respond as fast as possible and are sorry that it took a bit.Your questions are answered one by one below. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.The motion pushes an alert but doesn't record a snapshot per specification. We accessed the maintenance interface of your DoorBird device and the software seems to function properly. If you think something is not recorded properly please send us time and date so that we can check that. The infrared has only come on automatically one time so without it night vision is toograiny and dark to see anything. Each DoorBird door station is equipped with 12 infrared LEDs. When being activated these IR LEDs stay active for 180 seconds and then deactivate automatically again. There are three events that can activate the IR LEDs:1. A visitor presses the push button during darkness.2. The motion sensor is triggered during darkness.3. The IR lights are switched on manually via the button in the App.My porch faces south into the sun and with only brightness/contrast, it's difficult tosee faces. You can change image settings here: App->settings->login into Administration area-> image sensorFor your information: We will also soon offer even more configuration options via the App.I barely hear any of the ring tones and when talking to someone over themicrophone/speaker, it's almost inaudible."Please check whether there is a difference between being connected via the LAN (house symbol above the live stream) and being connected via the cloud (cloud symbol above the live stream). If yes, the internet connection (available upload bandwidth, network settings) might be crucial factor.- Volume at mobile devicePlease make sure that you have adjusted the volume settings of the mobile device to high volume. If this is not sufficient you can further activate the hands-free mode (Door Bird App -> Settings -> hands-free mode) if you do not hold the mobile device close to your ear.- Volume at DoorBirdYou can adjust the volume at the DoorBird within the App (App->settings->device->speaker device). Please make sure to use the volume bars within the App carefully. If volume is adjusted to a very high volume, the audio quality can become very bad. The operating systems of mobile devices do cut the peaks. That often results in a worse audio experience.[End Email]Sept 2017 - It's been running now for several months without any issues. I now have confidence in it and it's working great. I changed my rating and the title to show a more positive review and would now recommend without reservation!

Great all in one Videocom and access control
Great all in one Videocom and access control. Well built. The app and programming are well thought out. Definitely requires intermidiate to progressional know-how to install. The newer model comes with a RF reader as well.

Best construction
Amazing product. Their wired Internet beats wireless for speed and dependability. Superior construction- not that plastic junk. Only wish the volume were a bit louder although it is acceptable. The app needs improvement and it would be awesome to have a windows app that allows speaking for at least on your own network.

Not good. It has been two weeks since closing and ...
I may come back and change this rating after I have the AV guys out. But right now it is connected but you can't hear it above a whisper. Might as well not have a doorbell. It is turn up on the loudest volume. To further complicate things the builder (Rohe & Wright) did not wire for chimes. Not good. It has been two weeks since closing and we have no way of knowing who is at the door..

Genial :)
