OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Smooth Potato Masher

I absolutely love this stainless steel potato masher! The handle has a comfortable grip, making it easy to mash even large batches without straining my hands. The stainless steel construction is sturdy and durable, and it doesn’t rust or warp after multiple uses and washes. It also works incredibly well for other tasks like mashing avocados for guacamole or breaking down soft fruits for jams. Cleanup is a breeze since it’s dishwasher safe, and the compact size makes it easy to store. It has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen tools. If you want an effective and durable masher, this one is definitely worth it!

This is the best potato masher I’ve had. Being stainless steel is great (my old cheap grocery store one rusted) but the handle of the OXO masher is the absolute best part of this tool! It’s comfortable to use. My old masher had a straight handle which could be hard and painful to use. The gridded bottom that smashes the potatoes is curved perfectly to hit the bottom of the pan right up to the sides. Plus it’s good sized so less smashing is needed! OXO products are fairly inexpensive for such well made and well thought out designs. I highly recommend this masher.

Very handy, These are okay, not as good metal as years gone by tater mashers, but what are we gonna do? This is my second one of OXO. The first one was "misplaced" by creepy SIL, so bought this replacement. My really good one, the one that's decades old (not OXO back then) is in storage. It will be interesting to compare the two in terms of quality. This style is much better for mashing for me. I put the bowl or pan on the kitchen table (it's lower than the counters or pullout bread boards) so I can get good leverage and it doesn't hurt my wrist like the usual stem style mashers.

I purchased this due to its oblong shape for use in round pots/bowls, the sharp inner surfaces of the cuts for potato mashing, its stainless steel build material and it being an OXO product- a firm whose products I have never been disappointed with. I also liked its ability to use two hands on the handle, if necessary. I just tried it out mashing some Purple Viking potatoes out of my garden and this masher worked perfectly! I prefer chunks in my mashed potatoes and my wife prefers very creamy mashed potatoes. The oblong shape allowed the mashing edges to comfortably ride against the inside of the round pot without missing any of the potatoes (I suspect it would not work as well if mashing in a bowl that is shaped anything other than roundish.) It was easy to get a very creamy potato mixture with only one small chunk noted.

I have been using my grandparent's potato masher for years. It's a classic and can you really improve the design? Yes, yes, you can. The Oxo is more efficient and our potatoes are smoother than they have ever been. Worth the purchase.

Wow. I have arthritis in my hands and this has made mashing potatoes so much easier. It is very study and does a great job making the potatoes creamy.
