Some fairy tales never grow old.
I'm a grandparent now that grew up with the fairy tale about the princess and the pea. So when my own granddaughter had a birthday, I couldn't resist buying this book for her. When I asked her several weeks later what the book was about, she recalled the story perfectly.

This was my favorite as a child
Don’t get me wrong the stories a bit dated. But I loved as a child looking at the pics mostly and reading it dramatically. it may sound weird but it may have helped with diversity? Why can’t a tiger be with an elephant or pig or any other animal that they want to be with. Even though that’s really not what the stories about lol. This new print is larger than original but the picture are still sweet as I remember

Good for compare/contrast with other versions
Prince Ralph, who lives with his parents King Adolph and Queen Frieda in Upper Crestalia, declares that he wishes to be married. Greedy Queen Frieda, who is consumed with her gem collection, sees yet another opportunity to corner the market on gems in the kingdom. Following the pattern of other versions of this Hans Christian Andersen tale, Queen Frieda devises tests for all of the young princesses in the land, who are, of course, unable to pass the unfairly constructed trials. Enter Princess Opaline, a car fixing, jump-rope jumping princess who must pass the pea-under-the-mattress test to win the hand of the Prince. No surprises here; however, the story does have an updated look and feel, and the winning princess once again proves to be a smart, independent woman.

Easy reading book for a child
This book was ordered for a 6 year old who is learning to read and it was perfect. The words are printed a little bigger so easy for someone just learning to read. The book was a success. I ordered the book because I had made a quilt with the princess on it.
