What temperature should someone use to melt the solder but not burn the waterproof plastic/shrink wrap?

I USED LOW TEMP SETTING ON MY HEAT GUN.. BUT I WATCHED CLOSELY TO SEE WHEN THE SOLDER MELTED AND PROMPTLY REMOVED HEAT. WORKED WELL.

can you use a lighter or torch on these?

lighter most cases. torches usually make too much heat. It will take a little while (and a few damaged connectors) to get a hang of it. too much heat burns the connectors. not enough and the solder does not melt. light and steady heat shrinks connectors and melts the solder. thicker wires are a little trickier as they take more heat to melt solder. this does take a little bit of time than crimping but the results are worth it. I used this for my boat rewire.
