For a hands on learner like me, this book plus a MathWorks home license is PERFECT
I was new to robotics 5 years ago and mid-way through that period decided I needed to get a little more serious about the math of what I was working with. When MathWorks made Home editions of their software available for a very generous price I went for this book immediately. Peter Corke has a lot of respect in the field and I found the exercises to be extremely well organized and fun to go through. I haven't gone through the whole book yet (I'm not doing vision), but have benefited (as has my employer) from time well spent in this book. I've looked at a few Robotics best and while there are other great books, the hands on nature of this one (in the MathWorks sense) was exactly what I needed.

Very interesting
This is a great book to practice robotic concepts using MATLAB. It would have been interesting to have programming algorithm development in Matlab text based. But it has served me pretty, sure to be of much use to those working with robotics. I recommend this book.

A bit dense in the beginning while you recall university material on matrices, Jacobians and Laplacians, but once you again get used to it, it reads much easier. The content is fantastic, systematically organized and very applicable to a wide variety of robot designs, with many references to additional material. Stimulating to read on and exciting to carry out the Matlab examples.Highly recommended!

The book itself is a great reference for who looks for general information about robotics
The book itself is a great reference for who looks for general information about robotics. It also helps you use Matlabs robotic toolbox. The book has a good quality and contains nice pictures. I also received the book sooner than I expected. I am totally happy with that

A must have
Pretty much covers all the essentials for programming / control of robots in conjunction with vision systems. Not limited to conventional 6 dof, coordinate based systems. In conjunction with the Matlab tool boxes provided, is an outstanding asset for developing complex robotic / vision systems.

Great book!
This is a great book for those who want to practice robotic concepts in MATLAB! The (free) robotics toolbox is a great tool to work with manipulators, and the book has several examples with real robots (like the famous PUMA). It also has some useful tools for mobile robots, but it only deals with the car-like and the quadrotor models. It misses the widely applied unicycle model, although it is ease to adapt the toolbox to work with the unicycle as well.I didn't have time to get to the machine vision part, but the final part of the book unites robotics and machine vision, dealing with visual control for robots.I think it is a very nice book for everybody that works with robotics!

A great reference for robotics and machine vision
This is much more than just a primer in robotics and computer vision. It is a great reference text both for experienced roboticists and for those just starting out in the field. The robotics and machine vision toolboxes created by Professor Corke have been widely used by the open source community for years and form a key part of the text. The text can be read from start to finish, rather like a long tutorial, with many interactive Matlab exercises along the way. Some of the toolbox functions, particularly in the machine vision toolbox, have undergone considerable development since the book was published (even since the 2nd printing in 2013) and this can cause some confusion when you work though the associated Matlab exercises. There is a list of errata on Profesor Corke's webpage.

Great introduction to powerful algorithms
The robotics and machine vision toolboxes made by the author [...] have already been in use by the open source community for many years, and with this books he adds a an overarching framework to understand them - somewhat like a long tutorial, with interactive use of Matlab all the way. Still, in spite of this tutorial nature, the most important mathematics is compactly and simply explained. The book is richly illustrated with pictures and figures, and the author's excitement for his subject shines through in his writing. One of the book's main strengths is that it enables a beginner in robotics and/or machine vision to quickly try out some relatively advanced algorithms, and thereby getting a good feeling for what possibilities these represent. I would recommend this book for both students and professionals in the field(s).

Excelente!
Gostei muito do livro, principalmente da teoria e dos cálculos. Ainda não adquiri o MatLab, porém o livro está sendo muito útil. Não me arrependi e recomendo à todos que gostam de robótica, principalmente quem já tiver licença no MatLab. :)

Excellent book
I used this book to approach to robotics (along with the text of the Sicilian / Sciavicco) especially from the practical implementation in Mathworks environment of industrial robot's maths models. Thanks to the author for having made available the toolbox of free robotics
