Very low on actual content
I am disappointed by this book. I am a fisherman and forager, but had hoped this would include useful information about the range of the more unusual critters that are edible. Unfortunately it really only includes the very obvious, and then not in much detail. I would recommend Hugh FW's river cottage handbook series, and his fish book which TBH are far more detailed and have much more practical information. The book is in very large print to make up for the lack of content. If you don't know what a brown Crab is, then maybe this book is for you. Otherwise steers clear.

Very informative read
Fantastic book if your looking to get into spearfishing. Very easy to understand, giving you the important information without being overly complicated. Recommended if you are interested in spearfishing and the next stage is to book a course with freedive uk.

great introduction. wouldnt go much beyond that tho
great introduction. wouldnt go much beyond that tho. if yer really into freediving/spear fishing and seashore foraging then you will enjoy the book but find it leaves you wanting more info on all the topics contained within the book. thats not a bad thing, and has cirtainly helped hone and focus my areas to research further.

Still i fully recommend it especially for beginners
A very helpful book that is written simply. The part about the freediving tips and techniques helped me the most. The part about foraging was interesting but not very helpful as i live in the Mediterranean and the sea life is quite different here. Still i fully recommend it especially for beginners.

Great for UK divers
There aren't many freediving books on the market, and this one is a bit less about the romance and freedom of diving and a bit more about the practicalities of what to do and what not to do, and about feeding yourself while you do it. If you are starting out, i would say always do a course, but this book, from a point of view of detail is enough to develop your understanding. The guide to what fish to take and what not to is very useful. Great for UK divers.
