Zerex Zxlru1 Dex-Cool Antifreeze Coolant

Right before the winter came, I went for a complete drain and fill of coolant, lately it's been very cold and I noticed each week the coolant was less and less, however I didn't see any spillage at all. I noticed that the coolant that was used from the place I went to "jiffy lube" used a lighter orange color compared to the Ford golden orange. I found myself topping the coolant off each week. That's never happened before, so I knew it had to be the coolant that was used. I then took it to a mechanic that I knew after ordering this coolant and he let me know that using the correct coolant is so important, that it has to be Ford (or vehicle ) Spec. He said that one of the signs is that it takes longer to heat up the vehicle, which was happening to me. Once I changed it to this coolant, the car heated up right away, it's been three weeks and I haven't had to do any topping off, no evaporation at all. The best part is that this is indeed a premium coolant at a major value for the money spent. I never realized that making sure your coolant is to the exact spec of what the manufacturer requires is that important. I'm happy I realized that now before something going wrong with the engine.

My Silverado and my wife's Equinox both require the orange Dex-Cool formula, and after trying a couple of generic brands over the years, switching to Zerex was genuinely a relief. The pre-mixed 50/50 ratio is honestly what sold me at first. No measuring, no guessing, no accidentally adding too much concentrate and wondering if you've thrown off the balance. Just pop the hood, check the level, and top it off. Been using this for about two full years now across both vehicles, through a brutal Michigan winter and some genuinely hot summer highway trips. Zero issues with overheating, no weird residue building up around the reservoir cap, and my radiator looks clean when I peek in. The temperature range it covers, both the freeze protection and the boil resistance, gives me real peace of mind when the weather gets extreme in either direction. The gallon jug is a good size for keeping in the garage without taking up too much space. My only minor gripe is that the pour spout can be a little awkward if you're working in a tight engine bay and trying to be precise, so having a funnel handy is smart. But that's a packaging thing, not a product thing. The coolant itself performs exactly as advertised and the 5 year guarantee is a nice bonus. Hard to ask for more than that.
