This is the greatest drumstick money can buy
This is the greatest drumstick money can buy. The "handle" allows the stick to be very balanced and to play through the set without feeling like the front of the stick is pulling down. The stick feels so natural in the hand and while it is thick and heavy, it feels lighter because of the cut away. Playing with stick feels like a hot knife through butter. I've never used a stick that feels as good as this. The tips sound amazing on the drums and cymbals. BUY THE WOODEN TIPS!!!! FOR SOME REASON THE NYLON TIP STICKS SEEMED TO BREAK QUICKLY.

Reorders reoccurring.
These are my new go to. I didn't expect the slightly thinner grip diameter to make that much of a difference but they're much easier to keep ahold. Coupling that with the nice weight balance really inspires confidence and creativity around the kit. Will they give you Danny super powers? No. Do they play great? Yes.

Perfect Sticks All Around
Ordered a pair of these yesterday and just tried them out. Honestly, this is a phenomenal set of sticks. The indented area at the fulcrum point makes it feel easy and natural. As a relatively newer drummer, I've heard there can be an adjustment period switching to longer/heavier sticks. I didn't find that to be the case with these at all. Despite the weight, even ghost notes feel much easier and precise. Danny Carey is just as good at designing sticks as he is at drumming, which is insane.

Good Feel Good Balance
I orginally purchased one pair of these sticks because I was actaully trying to find something as close to this other stick that was no longer made. When it arrived this wasn't it. So this stick ended up within my bottom dresser drawer that contains a boat load of sticks. Just recently I crossed paths with it once again and I slipped it into my bag to take and use at my drum lessons. But after playing with it for a while it opened my eyes up quite a bit. The thing for me is I am always working on the Tommy Aldridge stick twirling. Tommy uses that Promark 2S in the heavier Japanise oak. Ever hold those? Heavy stick! Could be used as a weapon. Promark makes a 2S also that is Texas American Hickory which is a bit lighter and easier for me. But what I like about this stick is the weight and balance + the machined taper in the grip makes for some good balance. There is enough weight. And I also most of the time use the butt end of this stick as the tips are a little light. Depends on what I am doing. Sometimes I will flip it around quick for a traditional grip thing and noodle around on my hihat and then I will twirl them a tad and next thing ya know, I'm pumping my twin bass drums and slamming down on my kit with the Butt ends. I think sometimes we evolve quite a bit with sticks. One month it's this and later on it's that. But this month I am buying loads of these. I hope they keep on making them and I think right now I will be using this for quite some time. When I train or practice I will use the Aldridge heavy oak to build up strength. This stick is heavy enough yet versitle for me.

They are a little heavy if you like weight by the bead.
Great stick for metal

Devilishly good
Among drummers, Danny Carey is a fairly well known individual. Generally speaking he's a fantastic drummer with a number of unique features to his style that can at times bend the drummer's mind. These sticks will not make you play like Danny Carey, but they are quite nice. I am used to playing with a slightly lighter stick, so my hitting is a tad on the heavier side with them, but that will go away soon as I adjust. What I can say is that these are the most comfortable sticks I have used so far. I've played with dipped and regular from all major brands, as well as some "specialty" sticks such as Ahead. These are the nicest for me to hold, all due to a subtly tapered section where the grip is. The signature on the sticks features Danny Carey's signature with a pentagram and the Eye of Horus. Given Danny's own visual style when he plays (the inclusion of sacred geometry, etc.) these are appropriately placed and are a nice touch.

Love these!
Have been playing for over 40 years, and currently playing on a large church worship team. I have played VF Extreme 5b for many years, and have enjoyed them a lot. I like the extra 1/2 inch of length that the extreme gives you over regular 5b. This stick is heavier than the extreme 5b, which I'm really ok with, since the tapered shaft at the fulcrum makes this stick effortless to play. Our sound guy said that he could definitely hear more punch and the cymbals sounded amazing. This stick gives you a lot of dynamic control, by its overall design and weight, and it makes playimg feel effortless. If you watch Danny Carey play, you see why he designed this stick the way it was. He plays very intricate patterns with extreme dynamics and a crack on snare. Try this stick out, your wrist with thank you!

Good pair of sticks
Used these before so knew what I was getting. Happy that the wood grain is straight and tight as I like it. Well matched pair, Vic Firth quality.

Power without loss of finesse
I first bought these sticks out of curiosity, marvelled at their girth and decided I wouldn't be using them -- I was a fan of the "Power 5a" Vater sticks at the time. Then I gave them a go, and ... they worked. The taper is lovely, putting your fingers at just the right balance point and reducing slippage, then you can drop back to the butt if you need more power. They do need a bit of wrist strength to throw, but not that much: perfectly possible to play fast and intricate with these. And the extra heft does give a bigger sound: I now find 5a and even 5b sticks a bit too insubstantial (though of course that's partly just familiarity). They've also lasted well for me, by contrast to the nearly as chunky Gavin Harrison signature sticks, which broke a bit too often for my liking: these have just whittled down until the sound starts to suffer and replacement is needed. Recommend: the more people use 'em, the less chance of my favourite sticks being discontinued!
