Frontier Co-op Poultry Seasoning Certified Organic, Salt-Free Blend, 1.2-Ounce Bottle

I’m already starting to stock up on a few things for the holidays, and after opening this Frontier Organic Poultry Seasoning, I knew I had found one I’ll be buying again. I’m pretty famous in our family for my Southern cornbread dressing. The recipe—and much of my love of cooking—was passed down through my mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunts. They all used poultry seasoning, so this is one of those ingredients I’m particularly picky about. Quality: The first thing that hit me when I opened the bottle was the aroma. Oh my goodness! It smells incredibly fresh. You can actually smell the individual herbs instead of getting that old, dusty spice-cabinet smell. The freshness carries right over into the food. Blend: This is very nicely balanced. You get that traditional sage-and-thyme flavor I expect from poultry seasoning, along with the other herbs and spices, but nothing takes over the entire dish. It tastes like a well-thought-out blend rather than a bunch of seasonings simply mixed together. Spiciness: There is cayenne in the blend, but I wouldn’t call this “hot.” To me, it gives just a little extra warmth and depth without making my dressing or chicken and dumplings spicy. Salt-free: One thing I really appreciate is being able to season my food without adding more salt at the same time. Especially with dressing, broth, gravy, and other holiday dishes where several ingredients may already contain salt, I would much rather control that separately myself. Versatility: Southern cornbread dressing may be the big reason I bought it, but it certainly won’t be the only way I use it. Poultry seasoning is also a must in our family chicken and dumplings. Dumpling preferences may differ—rolled, dropped, thick or thin—but in our family, a little poultry seasoning in that rich chicken broth is non-negotiable! I’ll also use this in chicken, gravy, soups, broth and other savory dishes. Value for money: My bottle arrived filled nearly to the rim. It wasn’t one of those spice bottles where everything has settled and suddenly it looks only half full. I was genuinely impressed by how much was in the bottle, and because the seasoning is so aromatic and flavorful, you don’t need a huge amount at a time. I will definitely be returning for more. I meal prep a lot of homemade pizzas for the freezer, and after seeing the quality of this seasoning, Frontier’s pizza seasoning is already going to be my next purchase from them. HELPFUL TIP: If you’re using this in dressing or chicken and dumplings, start with a smaller amount and give the herbs a little time to bloom in the warm broth before adding more. This blend is fresh enough that the flavor really does develop as it cooks. And if you like controlling the salt level in homemade recipes, this type of seasoning blend makes that much easier.

Adds great flavor without taking over the dish. It compliments the dish and we use it on other meats than poultry. Happy with our purchase.

Makes some great tasting soup with little effort

Tastes delicious as a supplement to my baked chicken. But, it still needs some salt and more flavorful spices. Very bland and boring on its own. I do Appreciate that it is organic and that I can add my own salt.
