Was hat mir an City of Fallen Angels gefallen?

I like where the story picks up
This is the last book I had to read for my read-a-thon I did this week. I tried to get through as much of it as I could and even though I didn't get it done during it, I did finish it the next morning after it ended. I am flying through this series because I can't stop even if I tried. I spend my days that I can't read at the time thinking about it. I like where the story picks up. It does in a way of joy and then Jace starts to pull back and we know why, but no one else does. So most of the rest of the book is trying to find out when Jace is going to finally let it all out. The book definitely takes a turn at the end. You have a feeling you kind of know why things are happening, but in the end it definitely wasn't what I thought. There is some parts that are connected to it, but not in ways I had imagined. Clare leaves it off in a way that you pretty much HAVE to pick up the next book. I need to know what happens and I already know after the 5th book I am going to be really upset having to wait for the final book to come out in 2014. I might even re-read the series before it comes out just so I can jump right into the last one. I love how the characters continue to become a part of you and grow not only has an individual but as a group of not only friends but becoming a family as well. I don't want to say much more than that without ruining the book for you all. It wasn't my favorite out of the series, I definitely enjoyed it and I still give it 5 stars, but I think book 3 is still my favorite. I still felt like the series could have ended there and I loved the happy ending that it gave in more ways than one. I am still hoping for that happy ending with the end of the series. This book definitely leaves you with a feeling of dread of what is going to happen at the end of it. I pretty much just set the book down and stared up and wanted to yell no, but knew I would scare my dog if I did, so I did the next best thing. I got up, went to my bookshelf, grabbed book 5, then walked in here to write this for you all :) I know this isn't the best review, I am horrible at writing reviews on series and trying not to give spoilers for you all. I just hope you see my sincerity that I loved this book and I love the series. So many said it wasn't good after the 3rd book and that had me scared, but for me I still love the series, and I hope that remains the case after book 5 and 6.

Ummmmm.... Speechless.
***Spoiler Free!*** When I first opened my package this afternoon and held the book in my hands my first thought was "It's so small!" and I was kinda disappointed because less book= less Jace for me to love (I'd say that it is a good 1/4 shorter than "City of Glass" is). But then I had to remind myself, "Hey Avery... 'Member that time that you thought that this series, your most favourite book series in the entire world and the book series that pretty much defines your life was going to be three books and now it is six book? Yeah, you remember that? So you CANNOT COMPLAIN THAT IT IS SHORT BECAUSE YOU WERE ONLY ORIGINALLY GOING TO GET THREE BOOKS. YOU GOT AN EXTRA THREE BOOKS SO JUST GET READING IT ALREADY!" So yes... I don't think that I have ever experienced such an emotional roller coaster than I did while reading this book. On one page I could be laughing my butt off at snarky comments from equally snarky characters and the next page my heart could be stomped upon so hard that nothing, not even an iratze, could heal said heart. Upon finishing this book I have come to realize how flat the characters truly were in the earlier books and it sounds kinda dumb when I say it, because I wouldn't have in a million years considered them to be flat- but compared to this book? Yep, totally flat. Why I say that is because in this book each character's personalities shined and flourished like they never have before. Each and every character has grown enormously and characters that in the earlier books I felt only "meh" towards? Well, I feel head over heels for them in this book (ie. Alec and Izzy) and the characters that I previously loved? Jace, Clary, Simon, Magnus? Well I fell even harder for them (which I didn't think was possible). As for the Jace front? Well, it is obvious that he loved Clary in the earlier books, but I never fully understood to what extent he did. I didn't fully grasp exactly how much she meant to him until last week (or around then) when Cassie posted the scene from "City of Ashes" when Jace, Clary, and the gang go to see the Seelie Court in Jace's POV (To find this extra scene Google "Cassandra Clare Because It Is Bitter"). And in this book? Well it is totally obvious how much he truly cares for her this book. Though this book give us the lovey-dovey-ness that we all expected, it is by far the most action packed and darkest book of the series, and as mentioned, one page you will be laughing, the next you will be bawling your eyes out and hyperventilating. I don't think that anyone will be disappointed by this book.
