Jumbo Kosher Garlic Pickle-In-A-Pouch - 12 Pack

I got these to see if I would like them better than the regular Van Holten's pickle-in-a-pouch, and you know, even though I'm not a huge fan of lots of garlic (I didn't even see the garlic indication, I just saw Kosher and thought I'd try them knowing that the kosher requirements for pickles are generally very favorable to making good ones), I found these to be a lovely variation. I ate them with great gusto, and frankly, too quickly. I suffered a bit from excessing salt intake for a few days, enduring a well deserved "I told you so" from my lady, and have had to resist buying another box because I'm afraid I'll just go through them like a buzzsaw. Again. :) Maybe I'll buy myself another box for my birthday. And Christmas. Heck, they're kosher, I can show solidarity by eating them during Hanukah, right? A word, however, about the brine: I think the brine picks up fumes when they seal the pouches, because it's got a distinct taste of plastic in it that isn't evident in the pickle itself in any way. Not much of an issue for me, because although I generally love pickle brine and will drink it (again to my lady's great dismay, lol), this stuff is just too powerful for me. It's all about the pickle here, so brine lovers, keep that in mind. In summary, watch your salt intake, just one of these pickles is a large portion of the normal daily intake for an adult, but if it's taste you're after, these pickles are the bomb.

great flavor and super convenient for travel

These are the best pickles on the market. Crisp and crunchy with garlic and the kosher added just makes it taste so good. No other pickle can compare . And they don’t sale these in the store but I can find, Momma,Poppa, Bro and Sour Sis.

These don't taste as good as when they were Garlic Gus pickles but they are still good. They aren't very consistent with taste tho. Some are very garlicy and others not so much. But good nonetheless.

I've been eating the Van Holten pickles for years going back to when they were called "Papa Portly's" but found they were increasingly harder and harder to find in my neighborhood but when I found out they were available thru Amazon, I felt like a kid in a candy store and wasted no time in ordering a couple of 12 packs! My favorites are the Kosher pickles and even though I wasn't raised Kosher I was brought up eating Kosher pickles in New York. They are the closest thing to pickle barrel pickles I have ever found on the west coast and when this batch is finished, I won't hesitate to order another batch or two!

There is no other pickle we eat except these. They arrived promptly and fresh and crunchy. If you enjoy a zesty pickle then these are for you. I love that they are individually wrapped, easy to transport, like at a picnic. So yummy. I recommend these pickles to satisfy the cravings of any pickle lover.

Yours are the only pickles that even approach what it was like to buy the very large pickles. The taste ovinegar and garlic are not as strong. The outside tends to be tougher and the inside parts is not as tasty. The pickles are much smaller that those of old. I've been a big pickle eater for more that 60 years, and I -hate all the underprocessed deli-type dills. As in most cases, I guess that being beyond a certain age, my prefences in most everything no longer matter.

Yummy! These pickles are delicious. I especially like them when chilled in the fridge but you can eat and enjoy them right out of the bag as soon as you get them. You do not have to refrigerate them. They have a long shelf life. They are also just crisp enough. The are the perfect "zero calorie" snack for those watching their weight as well. Just writing this review has made my mouth water and I savor having another of these pickles. I am going to eat another one of these as soon as I hit the send button.
