If the jack from Harbor freight says use hydraulic jack oil--then this should work. Most oil products with specific use names like Hydraulic Jack Oil have something different that makes them more compatible with a specific tool.

Will this work in an old fashion barber chair

To be honest, I am not sure. I use it strictly for my electric log splitter.

It does not state on the bottle or on any of the other brands of jack oil I have. Including a qt. of autozone. The bottle does say formulated to perform at a wide range of temperatures, and may be mixed with other standard hydraulic jack fluids.
