From a renowned financial journalist comes a fresh, "engaging" ( The New York Times ), and profound book that draws on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews with many of the world's super-investors to demonstrate that key insights for building wealth apply to life as well. Billionaire investors. If we think of them, it's with a mixture of awe and suspicion. Clearly, they possess a kind of genius--the proverbial Midas Touch. But are the skills they possess transferable? And do they have anything to teach us besides making money? In Richer, Wiser, Happier , William Green draws on interviews that he's conducted over twenty-five years with many of the world's greatest investors. As he discovered, their talents extend well beyond the financial realm. The most successful investors are mavericks and iconoclasts who question conventional wisdom and profit vastly from their ability to think more rationally, rigorously, and objectively. They are master game players who consciously maximize their odds of long-term success in markets and life, while also minimizing any risk of catastrophe. They draw powerful insights from many different fields, are remarkably intuitive about trends, practice fanatical discipline, and have developed a high tolerance for pain. As Green explains, the best investors can teach us not only how to become rich, but how to improve the way we think, reach decisions, assess risk, avoid costly errors, build resilience, and turn uncertainty to our advantage. Green ushers us into the lives of more than forty super-investors, visiting them in their offices, homes, and even their places of worship--all to share what they have to teach. From Sir John Templeton to Charlie Munger, Jack Bogle to Ed Thorp, Will Danoff to Mohnish Pabrai, Bill Miller to Laura Geritz, Joel Greenblatt to Howard Marks. In explaining how they think and why they win, this "unexpectedly illuminating" (Peter Diamandis) book provides "many nuggets of wisdom" ( The Washington Post ) that will enrich you both financially and personally. Review: Iโm a lot Richer, Happier, Wiser after reading this fantastic book - Fantastic book which teaches you not only how legendary investors made their money but what goes behind their thinking and how closely it is related to other aspects of their life (be it Karma, religion, perspective on how to approach living). It also serves as guide distilling the fundamental rules or commandments of investing which were central to strategies of different investors (from Pabrai to Templeton to Sleep to Marks etc...) Overall a great read if you love investing and want to learn how to lead a good life. Review: Brilliant book. - For those who are seriously want to learn and see the world of investing through the windows of great investors mind set, strategy and experience...awesome book. Must read.

Book itself is wonderful, but has printout issues
The book itself is wonderful, but has printing problems. Several dozen pages in the book contain stains of the topographical color and because of that the overall feeling of the book is somewhat spoiled.

The investment and life philosophies of some of the world's richest investors are presented
A book that presents the experiences and philosophy of investing on the examples of some of the greatest known and some lesser known investors. The book presents the essence of their investment and life philosophy. Demanding to read and requires full concentration because it is very well written by one of the journalistic wizards who understands finance. In a compact way, the investment and life philosophies of some of the world's richest investors are presented. You will not always agree with everyone and always how they do it, but you will have an overview of how they did it. A definite recommendation for every serious investor to have this book on their shelf.

Must read
Astonishingly good book. The sort of thing that should be compulsory reading for every young person when they first start earning a wage. Well organised. Beautifully and honestly written. The last page of the last chapter on munger left me with a tear. It was a privilege to have found this book.

An important investing book that is about more than just investing...
This book finally tells the stories that needed to be told about exceptional investors like Pabrai, Miller, Gayner, Greenblatt, Sleep and and others (some of whom were new to me -- arnold van den berg?). The magic is that the author tells their stories in a succinct and well written way that's super engaging and that ties common themes across these investors. The writing is terrific, casual and compact with the book packing in so much wisdom in under 250 pages - that's impressive. My sense is the book will age very well and will earn its place at the center of every investor's library. In essence, This books is an investors' version of William Thorndike's The Outsiders (another exceptional, seminal book). William Green does a superb job of distilling the personality, intellectual and emotional traits that explain the enduring success of great investors. One of my favorite parts of this book is the "Notes on Sources and Additional Resources" at the back. For most books this is an afterthought, but Green obviously put a lot of effort here: he provides the reader with perhaps one of the best curated recommended reading lists i have ever encountered. Buy the book, and read it.

Fascinating insights that make you think about your own approach to investing
A pleasant change from many of the investment books out there. This book explores the investment approaches of some of the most successful investors, which is in itself interesting, but not particularly groundbreaking. The investment approach and track record of many of the individuals covered in the book will be well know to many people. What sets this book apart from other similar books is the insight it gives into the personalities of the individual investors. The author draws upon his personal interviews and interactions, giving a unique insight into what drives and motivates these individuals. This is fascinating and thought provoking, not least because it leads you to reflect on your own investment approach, mindset and overall approach to life.
