Perfect to protect acrylic paintings
I bought this to provide added protection to acrylic medium on canvas to provide a long-lasting finish. Upon application, there was a slight sheen. However, once dried, the varnish blended in perfectly with a matt finish as expected.

For everything else, wood, stone (and probably clay) I would use Rustoleum polyurethan finish, which comes as a can of spray varnish. Easy and quick. I use the clear, matt finish. The varnish is quite watery and dries quite quickly. So far I have tried it on acrylic paintings on canvas boards, normal cardboard and sheets of bark. They have all turned out well with a nice sheen with no cracking or sticky finish. I would guess that it would work on clay if it was thoroughly dry and act like PVA glue.
