Q: Is this a shallow mouthpiece?

It is moderately shallow. Middle to shallow side of things.

Q: Is this better than the 7c mouthpiece at least is the one my bach trumpet came with?

This mouthpiece is way better than a 7C. I played with a 7C for the first 6 years on the trumpet. In 10th grade I tried a 14A4a, made reaching the upper register easier, plus the rim is wider and smoother than the 7C so playing while marching was more comfortable.

Q: Is this comparable to the Schilke 14A4a, with the flatter rim ?

Sorry. I've never used a Schilke. However, it is a comfortable mouthpiece. I use 14B4 & the Bach 1C for applicable tonal differences. I have used the 14A4a. It's feel & tone resemble the Bach 3C.

Q: Is this a 3c mouth piece?

The inner diameter is similar to a 3C, but this mouthpiece both feels and sounds very different to a 3C. The cup depth is much shallower, the backbore is much tighter, and there is more undercut on the rim.
