I'm a renter and don't want anything to damage the sliding door. Can this be mounted without damage to the frame?

I would recommend using tacks and not the velcro. The velcro adhesive is strong and will peel paint. Tacks will leave a tiny hole easy to patch. I have some outside tacked up with no issue. This white one is in the loft so I can leave the door open in summer but keep out bugs. Love it.
