This thing was a LIFE SAVER during my maternity leave! My son started sleeping through the night pretty early on (by 4 weeks), so by the time he would wake up at 5:30am for his first feeding I was SO swollen and full that he would only take one side. This stressed me out so much because I couldn't just leave the other side still full...so I would either be crying trying to get him to wake up to eat the other side, or have to hook up the electric breast pump (which I HATED because there were so many parts to clean, and that would be an extra 20 minutes before I could go back to sleep). The Haakaa saved me for 2 reasons 1) I needed to start a freezer stash for when I returned back to work at 8 weeks and this allowed me to do so without having to pump (the pediatrician suggested pumping AFTER his feedings to build my supply....who has time for that?!?! I would have been literally a milking cow the entire day). 2) It's literally effortless with zero pain and only ONE part that cleaned easily. I stumbled across this on a blog by accident when I was trying to figure out how to build my freezer stash before returning to work without losing my mind and I will never be more thankful for a product. I would use this for the first 2 feeding of the morning (since you're fullest in the morning) and would have 4-6oz a day to put away in the freezer. All you have to do is squeeze the base, put on breast you aren't feeding from and release base to get it to suction to your boob. The suction holds it in place. Then have your baby feed from the other side and it will trigger your let down on the side the Haakaa is suctioned to!!!!!!! Only negatives (but not bad enough to not warrant this a 5 star product) is that if you don't pay attention, it can lose suction and come off (I just kept an eye on it and whenever it started to lose suction I would give it another squeeze to reestablish suction). Second is that is does not fully drain you like an electric pump would, but is enough to relieve you so you can go back to sleep (or for the second morning feeding, my son was usually awake enough that I would let him feed on that side after I used the Haakaa). Get this....you won't regret it!!!!!

That it WORKS! You don’t need a fancy breast pump if you have a baby who feeds well, this helps you from being engorged and regulate your milk without oversupplying. Life saver for me!

This product is well worth the money. Pros: The soft silicone design is very comfortable, much more so than the usual hard pumping flanges. The opening is the perfect size, it seems like it would fit many sizes of breasts, including larger ones. I normally require the larger Medela 27mm flanges and this product works fine for me. Because of the design, one handed operation is easy. I put it in place and apply the suction and I will usually secure my bra or tank around the bottom just for extra security. The great part is ths5 since you don't have to use your hand to provide a pumping action, you can massage the breast to encourage more milk let down. It is very easy to clean as it is just one piece instead of multiple pump parts. Cons: The measurements on the side for ml/oz are incredibly inaccurate. Now that I know this, I know to just either not pay attention or to not trust it, but it seems like something that would have been easy enough to fix and it wasn't. Unless the measurements are some weird European ones and I don't realize it. There is much less than what the markings say there is. As in when my milk reaches the 4 oz Mark on the pump, it is actually only 3 oz. On that note, I do wish that the reservoir was slightly bigger. It will hold 4-4.5 oz, but when you get that much in there, you can't squeeze it to provide suction or else it will overflow. It will comfortably hold about 3.5 oz and you can still provide a little suction. As a side note, I do recommend buying the cute little flower plug. It works well and provides some peace of mind as the bottom of the pump is not very wide, so it isn't the steadiest base to set down.

This little gadget is amazing. A lactation consultant recommended the Haakaa pump to me, and it has changed my life. It is not really a pump, but more of a gentle, non-mechanical device that uses some suction to remove milk from your breasts. Genius. I find pumping (for example, with a Medela electric pump) painful, because of the way my breasts rub against the hard breast shields. The Haakaa pump is soft and comfortable, by contrast. I use it primary to catch milk from one side while nursing my baby on the other side. It suctions onto your breast and can stay in place (mostly) on its own. Catching milk this way is effortless and doesn't take any additional time. I hardly notice the Haakaa is there, and when I look over at the end of a nursing session, I've usually gathered about 1 or 2 oz of milk. MAGIC!! Then I save these little smidgens of milk and combine then into larger bottles or bags for storage or feeding. At 1 or 2 oz. per nursing session, this is an efficient and painless way to build a stash of stored milk. I am so obsessed with the Haakaa that I even take it along out of the house for nursing on the go, because otherwise I tend to leak milk from the side where the baby is not nursing. This saves my clothes from all those milk spots, plus by catching the milk I can put it to good use. Highly highly highly recommended! I am actually ordering a second one, so I always have a clean Haakaa pump on hand. My only criticism is that the pump is easy to tip over, so be careful not to spill your milk!! PS. I was initially put off by the estimated shipping time, but I was pleasantly surprised when my Haakaa pump arrived about 3 weeks earlier than Amazon initially stated. And even if you have to wait a few weeks to get it, this pump is worth it!!

Amazing!! I'm a certified nurse midwife and heard about this from a lactation consultant friend, and don't know how breastfeeding moms live without it. Essentially, you squeeze it to create a vacuum and it suctions on to whatever breast you aren't feeding the baby on. When your baby latches on the other breast, it stimulates let down on both sides, and instead of that milk being wasted in your breast pads you can collect it to save/freeze, which is amazing if you're going back to work or don't have a huge supply and every drop counts. The better you drain your breasts the more milk you make, so super helpful to keep a good supply. I'm going back to work and thanks to this have a ginormous freezer stash. I pump usually only once at night because I have to or it hurts too much to sleep, and use this during day time feedings and it's been plenty. I personally make a lot of milk, and many times my baby won't take both sides even though my boobs need it! Thanks to this, I don't have to feed my baby and then pump the other side. It can only fit 4oz at max, so if you produce more than that, you'll need to empty and reattach. The suction goes away as the vacuum does, so you need to keep an eye on it during feedings to resqueeze it as it resumes its shape to maintain good suction. Otherwise the flow slows dramatically and it can fall off, spilling what you worked so hard for! Keep the suction up, and use whatever hand isn't holding the baby to do some breast compression (squeeze/put pressure on the full areas of your breast) to get best output. It's designed to work while feeding to get letdown, trying to just use this as a "manual pump" is relatively useless (I've tried it). If you aren't nursing, you need to actually use a pump instead. If you've got oversupply you need this, and if your supply is low this will help boost it, plus if you're going back to work this is way easier than trying to find time to squeeze in a bunch of pumping sessions to your day. One of the best things I've spent my money on of all the new baby purchases.

I was having low supply (supplementing with formula) and using an electric breast pump to try to increase my supply. This caused terrible pain no matter how many lactation consultants I went to, trying to address fit and use pattern. I got two of these. I found it to be much more gentle but also effective and my supply increased to match my baby after a few weeks of use.

I don’t usually write Amazon reviews but for this product I just had to! When I had my daughter I attempted to express using an electric pump (I was told these were the best) however could only ever get about 1oz per side. So for my son I didn’t bother buying one. We’ve been struggling with him latching due to tongue tie and I was upset I wouldn’t be able to give him my milk, so thought I would give a pump another try. Found this on Amazon and thought for the price why not give it a go. If it doesn’t work I’ve not lost much. First time I tried it, omg! Managed to get a full feed! I am so impressed at how easy it is to use and how much cleaner it feels compared to worrying about tubes etc from other pumps. Ladies if you need an easy to use pump, that actually works!! Don’t hesitate to buy this one :) Happy feeding!

Muy sorprendida con éste producto! Opción fácil para aprovechar la subida de la leche en el otro pecho del que no mama el bebé y recoger la leche. Lo conocí de casualidad y no puedo estar más contenta. No se trata de un recolector ni de un extractor como tal. Se sujeta al pecho como una ventosa y con esa fuerza que ejerce al agarre hace una leve succión.

Me encantó. Admito que no lo usé mucho tiempo pero es una muy buena porción para extraer la lechita mientras alimentas a tu bebé.

Very efficient and effective. I mostly use it a night that I do not have time to do pumping. I love the product, soft silicon. it doesn't irritate my skin. suck well. Can be easily cleaned. worth it.
