it recommends Royal Icing; however, I used that and a lot of other recipies, and nothing worked..these suck big time..even after I downloaded the instructions, I can't get anything to look like any of the pictures; I even used 'lard' in one recipe to see if it needed something more sturdy to 'release' after you put the tip on the cupcake...but no, didn't help at all. I finally just gave up; may send them to my cousin in NY, she's a pastry chef; see if she has better luck.
