Explanation from my electrician husband: a fully charged battery is 12.6 volts. 12.2 volts indicates 50% remains and 12 volts is almost dead. If you go below this, it will damage the batteries. A 1500W water heater will therefore rapidly discharge the batteries, even though there are 2 of them, so you need to monitor the voltage carefully - the inverter has a voltage indicator on it. You would be better buying a diesel heater for a boat or a 12 volt water heater.

It is best to fit an inline fuse , I have a 100 amp mega fuse for auto electrics.
