You won't like this waterer.
It's the only one of my waterers that attracts mold around the spring area of cup section. Be careful with this because, depending on where you position it, this is really hard to see unless you take it out and hold it up. After only 2 days I had cleaned up numerous water spills and floods as well as lost 2 very special chicks. The water cup protrudes too far ahead of the body so it's really difficult to set so that chicks don't bump it. It tends to lean forward too much. Yellow piece doesn't lift as cup empties but as water floats it so due to the forward lean, it often just continues to flow and floods brooder. It's difficult to grasp pine shavings that inevitably end up there from time to time as they fall beneath the yellow piece and it's awkward to remove them. The hanger that comes with it doesn't hold it right and it only comes with one type..spring. Measuring additives for this is off too because it holds a litre, not a quart like nearly all chick waterers hold.

Good quality; reduces waste & mess; helpful but may not be practical for every day use
It's tough to rate this product for reasons I intend to explain; however, it may be a worthwhile purchase for you, depending upon your needs.--- BASIC OVERVIEW ---This waterer is made from a good quality plastic. Superglue will be necessary if it cracks. You may want to use a toothbrush to properly clean it. An anti-microbial version would be a great idea. It was professionally packaged, includes instructions & arrived within a reasonable period of time. It has a metal coil with a hook on each end, that straps the water resovoir to the side of the cage. It can be mounted to the inside or the outside of the cage. Mounting it to the outside of the cage provides the animal(s) with more living space.--- RE: THE CARE OF BABY BIRDS ---I ordered this waterer for our baby birds, to help prevent the common challenges that poultry farmers/homesteaders face. Feeding is always messy with birds, but the wrong kind of equipment can cause problems that quickly lead to an increased mortality rate when raising baby birds (see below).(1) A lightweight watering dish, such as a plastic bowl, is easy to tip over, resulting in cold wet bedding that tiny birds depend on to help them stay warm. Cold baby birds die & bedding is costly to replace.(2) A heavy water dish that is low to the ground, such as a ceremic dish, doesn't tip over but is easily contaminated from the birds standing in it & pooping in it. No one has time for that & baby birds need adequate nutrition to grow.(3) Chicks/ducklings kick bedding into water dishes that are low to the ground. The bedding absorbs the water & leaves the birds with none to drink, which can lead to an electrolyte imbalance/dehydration & death...and more costly bedding changes.(4) A water container that is HEAVY enough to not tip over & HIGH enough to prevent baby birds from kicking bedding into it & pooping in it, such as a small mixing bowl or bucket, is a drowning hazard & may be too high for some birds to reach.(5) Setting a gravity feeder/waterer on a level patio stone on the cage floor can prevent a lot of these problems but takes up a lot of space.(6) Suspending a gravity feeder/waterer from a hook/wire at the top of the cage will continuously spill as the birds hit it with their faces from side-to-side, which means: thirsty, cold, wet birds & more pricey bedding changes.--- CONCLUSION ---In theory, this waterer prevents all the problems described above. In practice, however, it isn't practical for more than 1 broody hen or 2 VERY young chickens. It didnt dispense water fast enough to satisfy our 2 ducklings when they were less than 3 weeks old. It may be helpful for other kinds of small animals. It's a great invention, but I used it once & didn't use it again. It could be very helpful if taking a single caged animal/bird to the county fair or similar experience.--- SOLUTION ---I solved our problem by purchasing several small ceramic feeding bowls at a local pet store. They are about 6-8 inches in diameter & about 4 inches tall. I filled about (1/3 - 1/2) of each bowl with chick feed crumbles or pellets. I filled the remainder of the bowl with water mixed with an electrolyte powder for baby birds called "Quick Chick" (or "Broiler Booster" for meat birds ) -- it's like life saving Gatorade for baby birds. The feed absorbs the fluid & the birds injest about an equal amount of fluid & feed at the same time. You can adjust the ratio of [food:fluid] to meet the birds' developmental needs. It isn't enough fluid to get them through the day, but it ensured that each bird got something, which wasn't previously happening with all the spills & messes they were making before.Leave adequate space around the entire circumference of the dish for birds to gather 'round or they will crowd the dish, step IN it & ON eachother. I don't like to eat with people standing on my head, do you?If this occurs, position the bowl towards the center of the cage. Help to comfortably position the baby birds around the edge of the dish. Place an inverted yogurt cup or small mason jar in the center of the dish to keep birds out of the middle. If there isnt enough space around the edge for them all to comfortably eat, you need to add another dish.Good luck!

Game changer for our quails!
Best way I have found having had chickens and now quails to provide clean fresh water easily without having to constantly change or clean bowls. Because the water reservoirs outside the cage I can easily fill it up or add ice cubes on hot days. And are quails easily access and drink using the spigot and the small Reservoir area remains much more clean then the previous water dispensers we've had which reside inside the cage and are prone to getting bedding material and or poop in them. Highly recommend to backyard chicken or quail hobbyists.

Disappointed
Very disappointed in these water dispensers. They slip out of the springs that came with them that are supposed to hold them up on the cage for the girls to drink out of the cups, but they can’t do that if the dispenser Lee’s falling down. And the cups are so small that the chickens can’t get their beaks in there. Furthermore, it is impossible to clean both the inside of the dispenser and the water reserve where the chicken should be drinking from. Our girls hate them and we do, too. I keep them out as a back up in case the big ones go dry before I can get out there, but they pretty much ignore these.

Leaks water.
I am writing a review 6 months after purchasing it.This is the second time I use this water feeder and now it leaks water! I tried deep cleaning it but it still leaks a lot of water. My chicks keep got wet and I hope they don't get sick. I filled it up last night and I noticed that the dispenser was almost empty and I only have 6 chicks! Then I realized the wood shavings were soaked in water!Like I mentioned this is the second time I use it. The first time I used it, it would leak and the leak would go away by just cleaning the valve and any debris. I hope I can arrange something with the seller.
