Southwire 64169622 5 Conductor 18/5 Thermostat Wire, 18-Gauge Solid Copper Class 2 Power-Limited Circuit Cable, 50-Feet, Brown

Great cable for wiring up your nest, echobee, etc. Stiff and somewhat difficult to pull but great once it's done. Better than using cat6.

Hunted far and wide to find some of this wire to buy - but apparently now that most HVAC systems use smart wireless thermostats the hardware stores don't carry it anymore. One building supply place I tried - the employees didn't even know what I was asking for - and when I compared it to telephone wire, they didn't know what that was either. Sigh - I must be old. I was doing some work on my compressor unit outside, and wanted to run new wire between it and the unit inside. This wire was perfect for doing that and the length was more than enough to get from point A to point B. Was expecting to pay more than this - so the cost was just right. Haven't had any problems, so I'm happy with my purchse.

Product came as a spool (50 ft 18/5), appears correct, new, Southwire brand. Wire colors are red/blue/white/yellow/green, brown jacket. Has that handy "thread" also, that allows you to easily split the jacket open. Measured thickness for solid core looks like 18AWG. Internal colored insulation is thin, but presumeably adequate for the 150V rating. The 4th image shows a piece of the blue wire compared to an older (black) thermostat wire (from an 18/2 cable) that had a thicker insulation layer.

Given a trip to the Depot woulda costed more in gas and effort than ordering them here I opted for the sensible route. The item worked as expected, providing a much needed connection for my video doorbell

Works great, solid core and durable.
