This product is fun, easy to use and was pretty mich what I expected. I have never used these beads before but have seen what other people have made from them. I have been trying to find arts and crafts projects to keep my daughter engaged in activities that do not involve the television or video gaming. She is three and her 12 year old brother already has her hooked on minecraft. While mindcraft is a better video game that encourages you to create I wanted her to create things using her hands. This product is great for that. They give you some blank patterns and you can color them in by placing the dots on either by using your hands or the tweezers included. She is young so I did need to help her with some of the pegs and of course I had to do the ironing however she really got into the project and together we made a colorful butterfly. Now she is only three as I mentioned and this was a little old for her but bought it knowing I would have to help her. I don't set her up with projects and walk away. (Except during the dinner prep rush) I like to sit with her and do projects with her. Bonding time and all that. So if you are looking for a good project for kids to do on there own I would not recommend it for kids as young as mine. However if you plan to help them it was a great project. It will challenge there hand-eye coordination. That's a very positive thing. The goal of arts and crafts and most other toys is to challage there bodies and minds to they can learn a new skill. If we keep buying toys that are at or below there skill level they don't learn much. Each time we have sat down to use them (three times total) she has improved on her ability to put the dots where she wants them. And for parents who have never used them. It was a sinch. Very easy. I'm the kind of person who always has to throw away the first pancake if you will but not this time. The first melted creation came out flawless.

I bought this to give my kids (ages 6-8) as a reward for finishing the school year. They have played with it everyday for the last 6 days. And we still have lots of beads left. I also bought a classic mix bucket as well. They had recently used up their previous supply of beads - we had an animal set with a dog, cat, and horse. I don't know what it is about toys - we had had the previous set for years and not much interest but then about a month ago or so they got all into them - maybe it is the age. With the animal set they would make an animal and then use them to play with and I think that really helped them get into them. Anyways - I would highly recommend these as a summer activity for your kiddos!! The only annoying part is having to get out the iron all the time - I have just given in and keep it on the counter now. (wink)

My 12 year old granddaughter actually ask me for these. I bought them not having any idea what it was and now, I'm picking up perlers everywhere. My vacuum hates them!!! It's a great craft, my granddaughter enjoys them, but you need to come up with a product that distributes them one at a time and holds like 50 more before you have to replace them in the distribution product. It would save us parents money and time. These tiny pieces get everywhere if you don't supervise the smaller kids with them. They do make lovely things!

My kids have loved doing this activity and I love that it brings me back to when I used to do them. The bucket is nice for all the needs. The divider is cool to separate the needs from the designs but they don’t stay separated for long. It’s a nice amount of beads for the price. Good variety of colors. I would say having the colors organized individually would make it was more functional however organized by color would also be a lot more expensive so I think for the price it’s just fine.

The 90s nostalgia is so real. My daughter did these at summer camp and asked for them at home. We have been doing them non stop. My only wish is that there were more pegs and some patterns but I knew what I was getting myself into. They are exactly like I remember them getting as a kid.
