Protect Your Pet: More Shocking Facts

No one knows this stuff. If people would take the time to just read two chapters in this book about dog food and vaccinations they would start treating their pet correctly. They believe because its on the shelf it must be safe. Why have so many chemicals and drugs been removed from the market? Oh, they were good then, but now they are not??? Why are so many dog food manufacturers making commercials now about their new, improved, healthy dog food?? Oh!! You are saying it wasn't good back then?? Why are vets making so much money? Because we feed our dogs crap and we don't take the time to read exactly what is in it. Just two chapters in this book would amaze you. Why do vets to tell u its ok to feed them this crap?? Who funds veternarian schools??? My vet recently wiped his whole supply of regular dog out and replaced it with a better quality. Why? After loosing three wonderful dogs I started reading. Why were my dogs getting all these illnesses?? My dog now is 12 years old, has absolutely no health problems, and plays like a puppy. I am not sure if it is the food, but I will only feed my dog non-gmo usda organic foods.The NHI a few months ago classified glyphosate (Round Up) as a probable carcinogen. For the last 20 years both you and your dogs having been eating crops from these seeds. These seeds account for 70-90% of most seeds that are used in farms. Companies has sued food manufacturers from stamping "non-gmo" on their packages and won. But now upon perusing the shelves I see hundreds of packages with this stamp on them. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! We are one of the few countries in the world that prohibited this. In most countries in Europe, this is a standard stamp. You love your pet. Don't you want him to live longer???? Watch OMG GMO on Netflix. It is very educational. Netfix has many videos on food safety but no one wants to take the time. Your television enjoyment is more important than your life?? Watch these videos!! Once you watch one Netflix will recommend others to you. Please, if you love your dog, feed him good quality food. We maybe able to keep them longer. The last dog we had saved my husband's life. Do I need to put a value on this dog????????

It is impossible to now how this book got into print as it blatantly twist the truth. I was mostly interested in what she had to say about the BARF diet, but after reading that chapter, I could no long be objective to the remaining chapters. Most of her comments regarding the BARF diet is based on rumor or backyard fence gossip. More than once she comments about a friends dog that had this or that symptom. Approximately 75% of her 'expert' findings came from veterinaries who have a vested interest in selling commercial dog food. Why would they say anything to take money out of their pocket? It is like going to a Ford dealer and having the salesman tell you to walk across the street to the Chevrolet dealer. Even today, veterinary students receive only 6 hours of instruction on animal nutrition. And guess who sponsors this instruction? You guessed it, the commercial food companies. So it is understandable that they would have a bias view, but for the author to not recognize this is beyond pale. You can fact check the curriculum of most veterinary schools.Comments in her book such as advocating feeding your pet from scraps from the dinner table and stating that the acidity of a dog's digestive system is the same as a human is gross negligence. I am not an advocate for or against the BARF diet, but a little common sense can go a long way. I cannot offer any comments regards the rest of the book as I tossed it in the trash after reading this chapter. There are pros and cons to everything, but this book serves no useful purpose to making an informed decision.DO NOT buy this book.

I saved my 17-year-old cat's life by heeding the warnings and advice of Ann N. Martin's first book,  Food Pets Die For: Shocking Facts About Pet Food .Back in 2005, the vet had pronounced my cat a "goner" ("She doesn't have much longer, but this [commercial] kidney diet will help for a while"). Ultimately ignoring all this and taking my pet's nutrition into my own hands, armed with the knowledge I had gained from reading Martin's first book and dialoguing with her by e-mail, my old cat bounced back and lived another FIVE active years!!! ...which my vet proclaimed as "absolutely amazing, unbelievable".Also, by changing my old cat's diet to a healthy "no by-products, no meals" natural food, my two younger cats (and I) also benefited tremendously: all three of my cats were totally safe during the tragic pet-food contaminations of 2007, the heartbreaking nightmare that killed so many beloved dogs and cats in North America, even those fed the most expensive, so-called "premium" commercial foods. The questionable practices of the pet food industry were finally exposed as Ann Martin had already warned everyone in her first book.This latest book contains even more vital, up-to-date information that all pet lovers NEED to know about food, vaccinations, health care, and animal cruelty. As you read Martin's books, you will be shocked, disturbed, disgusted, and/or incredulous...but in the end, thankful. You will learn just what you need to do to make sure your beloved animals live the best, the healthiest life possible and to give yourself peace of mind in their regard.

I purchased this book before I got my 2nd Australian Shepherd puppy. I wanted to do "everything" right for her. This book has really made me think about the food my pets eat and also about their vaccinations.I suggest that every person who owns and cares about their pets to read this book. Either you agree with what she says or you dont, but Ann (the author) does have a lot of people backing her opinions up. She has ALL of their names/contact info in the back of her book for references. You just cant doubt what she says by the way she documents herself.I even purchased this book for Christmas gifts this year for 2 of my family members.BUY IT!

Every pet owner would be wise to read this. It is a cold hard fact that we cannot blindly put our trust in vets and food manufacturers to have our pets best interest at heart. Profit is the name of the game and we are in it whether we realise or not. Be informed.

Interesting subject. Worth a read.

As horrifying as Foods Pets Die For was this was even more so. If people truly knew what was in their pets' food there would be a revolution to begin feeding cats species appropriate good.My research was a result of losing one of my cats. Through extensive internet research I determined he died because he was fed kibble.
