Once shelf is extended to desired length, is there any locking mechanism to keep it there? Does this hold or slide inwards easily if bumped over time?

No locking mechanism, but the shelf will not slide by itself. The shelf we designed is flexible and adjustable. What I'm curious about is why you want to bump or push it. It's a special concern. When pulled out to its full length, does the shelf remain level or does it sag at the joint?

It‘s not suggested to pull out to its full length, when you pull it out completely, it becomes two separate panels. We have drawn a line on B panel (bottom one), please do not expose that line when you pull out.
