how thick is backing vs tape?

Hi, Thank you for your interest in our tapes. The backing thickness for this product is 10mil, and total is 12.8mil.

Would this work on an old dresser where the drawers stick and don't have rails/runners?

This is like applying tape to a flat surface. The surfaces in contact should be smooth and flat for good adhesion. So if there is sufficient smooth, flat surface to apply the tape to, it will definitely greatly reduce the contact friction. The UHMW tape has a very low friction surface. Apply to both contacted surfaces if you can. You may need to trim the width of the UHMW tape to fit. The tape is very thin, 5 mil - the thickness of a piece of paper, so it shouldn't impact the fitting of the drawers.

What is the difference between 5 mil uhmw and 10 mil uhmw?

5 mil=.005" of an inch in thickness.--10 mil= .010" of an inch in thickness. Therefore, 10 mil is twice as thick as 5 mil thickness wise. Hope this helps!

can this be used in salt water?
