It is a solid piece of foam with some foam pieces glued on . It is huge . I wouldn’t try to wash it . I just used a sheet and made a “cover “ for it . It was a very essential pillow for me .

Q: will this accommodate an external wrist fixator?

This is an awesome medical support. I had to have BOTH wrists fused!!This worked so good that I bought another for my wife's grand mother who is 80 and fell and broke her wrist the same time I had my second wrist fused. If you want to heal right, you have to keep it elevated all of the time. This does that when you sleep, when you watch TV, so you are at least comfortable and it doesn't take any effort on your part. This is a GOD SEND!!!!

Q: Can this be washed and dried?

Hello Rita, The foam can be cleaned, but I would suggest only using a damp cloth, or some disinfectant spray. I would not suggest using soap and water because the foam will absorb this. Hope this helps! ProCare Customer Service Team
