top quality drive, you couldn't want anything better, that will read and write everything, CD, DVD, Blu Ray, at max speed.

Although I might install this Blu-Ray Writer in my newly built desktop, I really bought it "just in case." I still have a number of burned Blu-Ray and DVD discs and many blanks, so I want to have a good optical drive available. I gave this drive a test run using a kit that allows it to be run externally. It performed beautifully. Quiet, responsive tray, easily read all of the written discs that I tried, and burned some data to an old DVD+RW disc without issues. Have yet to try burning a Blu-Ray disc but will soon when doing some archiving. So far I am very pleased with this drive. I hope it lasts as long as a similar Pioneer drive I bought 10 years ago.

Great cd,DVD and Blueray disk reader. Does not come with software to play movies. :( Have to use software from the internet. Therefore it is not simple and intuitive.

the amount of effort you have to go through to get a media player that can play commercial blu-ray discs is impressive! it probably took me four hours getting it fully set up, including research. why would i not look into this beforehand and save myself the trouble? because I am not a clever man. In my opinion, you should immediately set up VLC for playing commercial blu-rays BEFORE ordering this (if that is what you want to do with it), just to save yourself the effort later. on its function as a disc drive, it performs marvelously, and much more silent than I expected. it's just a shame that DRM has to hamper the ease of use of such a good product.

This drive works great for movies in VLC. This drive does not read PS3 disc's, or 4k movies.

Wow, I purchased this item many many years ago from my computer. I'm still using this very item. I have burnt so many CDs and DVDs using this device if someone still has a desktop computer I recommend purchasing and installing this manufacturer.

Still up and running. I prefer this type of Optical Drive due to it's wide range of DVD choices (Blu-ray or single/double sided DVD). You can use ANY standard DVD format at 720, 4.7gig, or 25,50 gig Blu-ray ! If you need an optical drive, this is it. You get more bang for your buck !

Very easy to install, just unplug the old DVD drive and plug in this one. I have a bunch of DVDs made with a DVD recorder from Turner Classic Movies broadcasts and this drive can read some of them that my previous DVD drive couldn't. Of course it works fine with Blu Ray disks too. I haven't tried burning a Blu Ray with it yet.
