These clothes pegs are just as you'd expect them to be, at a good price in a nice big pack. I've been using them for awhile now and they're holding up great. Feel good quality and I like the natural wooden look. I've been using them both for hanging clothes to dry, and to clip food bags shut to maintain freshness haha (I find the clips that are actually designed for that purpose are so expensive, too bulky, and always seem to break easily). These have worked great for both purposes.

These are the good, old fashioned, wooden clothes pins. The are great for use when drying clothes inside or outside, and they are also great for art projects, hanging other items, drying of film ( for this who still use real film and darkrooms), and many other items. The wood dries out after/if it gets wet. These are slow to mold if left outside.As a previous pre-school teacher, these were essential in the classroom for hanging projects, student art, and keeping papers together. They are easy for young children to use, and great for art and painting ideas or other projects.So yes, with a little imagination, these can be used for many more things than just clothes on laundry day.

These clothespins seem to me to be as sturdy as old timey ones, but I seriously doubt one can hold 10 pounds. Figure a quart of water weighs about 2lbs. I think there is a translation problem. Plus, if there is a breeze, one pin could not hold that much. Perhaps they mean the spring is coiled at that rate. I don't know. Nevertheless, these pins hold well enough. They are not "craft" weight, they are utility weight.And, why not use more pins for garments? What is the point of skimping? These are tools. I now have 100 pins. I use 6 to hold up 1 pair of wet jeans by the waist--no folding over the band, either. This holds in a fair breeze. If the breeze is a little stronger, I fold the jeans over the line where the legs met the seat, and clip from the sides of the legs to the seat. One doesnt' have to just pin to the clotheslines. I use the clothespins that way too for garments I drape on a wooden rack. Pinning under the armpit at the side seam so no or few drying "dents" are made by the jaws of the pins. For delicates, I use a thin cotton hanky and pin over that.The pack of 50 have some poor quality, which used to be called "seconds". Those are rough, not completely sanded. But, they hold, and they will do fine on denim, I just wont use them on snaggable garments. Plenty are sanded enough. There is 1 American company making beautiful clothespins. 16 pins which works out to max 8 garments for $25 plus shipping. They look lovely, but for day to day, I'll just use more pins strategically placed. If the pins splay sideways, turn them upside down, to open. The coils tend to be more flexible one way than the other even in the old times.I started helping Mum hang out the wash when I was 6. Couldn't even reach the line at first, just shook out and handed. I never liked the way she folded the top edges of garments over the line and jammed on the clips. Dried out with dents and bunching. That's the old technique with the split pegs, from the same era of constant ironing. The way I do it, no ironing needed. The clothesline bags appear to run about $25 average, so I used some scrap fabric, sewed a square bag by hand with a gathering seam, put a strand of kitchen twine though, and presto, clothes pin bag with daisies and bees for next to nothing. I I use clothes pins to hang it just from the line, or from a plastic coat hanger to move along. It's good to take in the pins when dewy or raining so they don't mildew. If they get soaked, I just leave them on a towel to dry before bagging them. Think of wooden spoons.When folks buy a box of nails, they don't worry about dropped, crooked or dull ones, they get enough on hand to do the job with some left over. So go ahead, treat yourself to extra clothes pins at this rate. I took a star off because of the seconds mixed in with the better made.

I thought it would be silly that someone would have to rate a clothespin. When I moved into my house about 11 years ago there was a clothes line so I bought clothespins and used them for years. I don't remember what brand they were or where I bought them. One day I decided I wanted new ones so threw all the old ones away and bought a bunch of new ones at the local big box store. They were terrible! They broke easily, snagged the clothes or simply did not hold at all! I couldn't believe I threw away perfectly good clothespins because they were old! So, off to Amazon I go and I find these clothespins. I've been using them for a long time now. What can I say? They get the job done. They are sturdy. They do not break. They do not snag the clothes. They keep the clothes on the line, even very wet, heavy items and even in very windy conditions. I will keep them until they disintegrate which they've not shown any signs of doing even though I keep them outside in the elements all year round. Happy laundry day everyone!

THE WOOD: They're your typical mass-produced clothespins. The wood varies from pin to pin, but all of mine worked just fine. Some of them seem a little rushed, but because I bought these for "adult uses" I made sure to run my fingers inside the openings of each one. No splinters here. One (out of 50) had a crack near the back of it. I just broke the smaller side off though, and it works just fine.THE SPRING: The springs in quite a few are a bit offset, so they don't close exactly flush with each other. You can close them more carefully if it bugs you. None of mine came apart or slid out though, and I honestly don't see how they would unless you forced them to. None of the springs had sharp edges that extended past the other side either (maybe some of the other reviewers got a bad batch).They're about the size of any clothespin, no bigger, no smaller, and they open about as wide (a half an inch or so). I'm assuming they hold well, since they hurt like a word to describe your mother-in-law (rhymes with itch) when I played with them. All said, I would definitely buy them again!Tip: If you use the tiny rubber bands made for kids' hair on the back of one, you can adjust the pinch. Just add one or two for less ouch, more mmmmm. Or you can do the same to the opposite side to up the pressure and really get your point across. Oh, and I hear clothespins are great for holding your towels too. Go figure.

These are basically your stereotypical wooden clothes pins. There are two wooden sides with a metal spring holding them together. The spring is fairly strong and can easily hold even the heaviest clothing. I've hung up prom dresses, small blankets, and even big bath towels with just one or two clasps. I'd say that's a pretty tough spring. Each individual pin as a small hole, to attach to the clothes line, and then a flat spot to attach to the clothing. I find it works best if you attach both the clothing and the string in the same spot. I'm not sure why it works better that way, but it seems to. It just gives it a better grip (which if you're hanging your clothes outside to dry in the wind- they need a better grip).The wood is soft and absorbant. I'm warning people about this because this wood gets very wet when it rains. It does dry out easily, but I'm assuming over time this would cause rot- which would make them rendered useless.The springs, although strong, easily snap out of place. I've had this set for a month and lost about 5 of my clips simply because they split apart and I couldn't find the other half. They get crooked and easily fall apart. I find this to be a downfall, because some of the clips don't last long. Assume, when you buy this set, that you are getting 40 good clips- as 10 will probably break in the first few months of use.With that being said- for the price you're getting a great deal. 50 clips! The springs are strong and they do hold up fairly well. They just tend to get offset easily and fall apart. This isn't a huge deal, but I really wish I could find a kind that doesn't have that problem. Even so- when all of mine break, I'll probably buy this set again. They're super economical.
