A revelation
Having started and stopped and started and stopped an attempt an a fitness regime, I realised something was wrong. I would advance only so far with it before crashing out and feeling tired, lightheaded and miserable. It would contribute to me giving up (only then to try again later but with similar results). I had a full physical examination done by my GP thinking that it may be something to do with my body. Dr Google had pointed to all sorts of suspects. But none of these checked out with my real doctor. My body was fine. That led me to question everything I thought I knew about nutrition. I bought this book having found some insights from it referenced on some internet articles about running nutrition. The book has been a real eye opener. It turns out that I was doing a lot of things wrong. It turns out that i wasn’t fuelling my body properly for the kind of progress I wanted to make. I was so concerned about weight gain that I wasn’t taking in the proper balance of nutrients my body needed. And I was maybe drinking too much water and getting rid of electrolytes when I needed them. It’s only been a few runs since I bough the book but so far, so good.

A very practical, informative well written book
As a boys and girls high school track and cross country coach and a masters runner, I have found this book to be so incredibly useful on several levels. While I felt I had a solid base of knowledge for how to teach athletes proper fueling for them to be healthy, active and successful athletes in the long-term in a few short chapters, I've already revised my messaging to them and modified the handouts I planned to distribute to them. And the added bonus for me is that Sports Nutrition has helped me improve my diet as well and made me think about certain nutrients differently. While I am only halfway through the book I already feel this has been well worth my time to read and am looking forward to the 2nd half. Well done, Nancy!

Very informative, some opinions
Was assigned this book during a college level nutrition course. The first couple chapters were pretty opinionated. However, the later chapters became more factual. Also, there are many sources in the book for additional guidance for specifics regarding nutrition. The title and throughout the book, the author speaks of a “sports diet,” but it’s really more of a everybody nutrition; anyone can benefit from this book.
