Try ones like this: Hopkins 10803 FloTool Transfer Pump. Takes 2 hands, but otherwise cheap and effective. Comes with a hose that connects directly without fittings.

What is the difference between the diesel and gasoline combustion gas tester fluid?

Did not find that particular brand to work very well for diesel. Have used other brands which are combustion chamber leak detectors which work for both gas and diesel. The difference between a gas and diesel detector would be in the chemical formulation.
