I have a big head, will it fit for me?

I believe so. My head is almost 24 inch circumference. The hat has a wide range adjustable closure, which gives me a snug fit. Very comfortable to wear. The head band is 100% cotton.

Would this hold up to a gentle cycle in a machine?

I don't think so, but you could wash the hand band without much effort.

How do you attach the chin strap?

There is no chin strap, it's just a velco strap that goes around your head and attaches in the back
