Goldwood Sound GW-206/4 OEM 6.5" Woofer 180 Watts 4ohm Replacement Speaker

Worked perfect for my almost 40 year old Polk Monitor 7's, one of the woofers had a magnet shift causing it to lock up and a repair shop suggested buying this speaker as a replacement instead. It was much cheaper than a reproduction of of the original, fit correctly in to the same space and matches the sound quality of the other speaker with the original woofer that still works.

Still works, six years later. Used almost daily, I decided to upgrade to an Android car system, not so much for sound quality but features. It is a 96 Explorer, and installing a radio requires taking 1/2 the car apart. I was able to integrate the factory subwoofer with the new unit, and it truly sounds great. Sub still looks new. I don't know if I can compare it to something more expensive but people who are into audio rode in the car and said it is it is a good system, maybe not top of of the line but very respectable "above mid level." We disconnected and reconnected the sub and they commented on that specifically. This is using Fords sub amp, which probably isn't the worlds greatest either. The audiophile felt the amp may be holding it back. The sub REALLY makes a difference. It does seem to thump/pop/flutter at very high volume though.

I like that it bangs - it bangs bro. What I disliked? Non-Standard connectors, but if you know the heck you're doing, it is definitely worth it (trimmed + connect to fit Klipsch standard). Can't get the grill on, but who cares. I probably have to remove the main grill gasket, and I kept the OEM mount plate.. it'll probably work.. But listening to bass tests on youtube right now, so not bothered. I'll get to it. But still, what I like? That I can listen to my music on my severely old 2.1 Klipsch in 2021, after an open incident with them and they never responded. Save $80 dollars instead of a new 2.1 and buy this if you need replacement woofer (4 ohm).

Excellent speakers choice for low budget component woofer. Used a 1/2” spacer in the door an good to go! Update, September 2026 one of the voice braided leads is almost torn a cuts in an out.

It’s okay

I bought two of these to replace two of the door speakers in my car. One of them is still working and sounds really good. The other one became very weak and seemed to have stopped working. I am not hard on speakers at all, by the way. Upon inspection I found that the speaker coil is seized in the magnet and no longer moves. The rest is still in great shape, and the other one is still going strong. Regarding the seized speaker, I don’t see any obvious corrosion and it’s still very clean. Currently debating on ordering a replacement since they’re individual and the other is still working well. Might order a pair of a different brand and move the one to the back to act as a mid woofer next to the factory sub. I’ll update this review and number of stars if or when anything changes. Three stars due to suspected longevity or durability issues.

This speaker was purchased to replace the sub in my Klipsch pro-media 2.1 system because foam rubber surround material was half disintegrated. The old speaker was probably blown as it sounded terrible and after careful inspection I found it would be too difficult to repair. This replacement sounds at least as good as the original to my ears, although it may not have the same low frequency range as the original. The original grill material will not stay in place with this replacement, but that isn't a huge issue for me. I purchased this in combination with a 2.1 amp because the Klipsch amp had failed on one side and the speaker connection had broken on the other side. (This Klipsch set was 10 years old, so don't take this as a ding against its quality.)

Wired it to a 4ohm 3 way crossover. Sounds great, very happy with the speaker. Thank you Gold Wood Sound!

Good sound quality modest cost

Used for home 3 way project speakers. But need to measure by your self of TS parameters

I bought it to replace my broken woofer. It serves the purpuse and good price/performance.
