'A veritable treat' Daily Mail The sixth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and bestselling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. Welcome to Francesca's story . . . ________________________________________ In every life there is a turning point. A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breath-taking, that one knows one's life will never be the same. For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous bachelor, that moment came the first time he laid eyes on Francesca Bridgerton. After a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere thirty-six hours longer - the occasion of their meeting was, lamentably, a supper celebrating her imminent wedding to his cousin . . . Bridgerton series addict
Julia Quinn has to be, by far, the most witty Historical Romance writer that I know; and When He Was Wicked, amongst the Bridgerton Series is rather a lot different than the rest considering the type of heroine we see (at first she seems quite plain but turns out rather interesting in the end), and also that it is rare to find a Historical Romance which portrays the woman, instead of the man, having had a previous spouse.

I LOVED THIS ONE!
Having just discovered this series (I'd never read a Julia Quinn book before) I read the 1st book, "The Duke and I," and liked it so much I ordered the rest in the series and continued reading. It's nice to be able to read them one after the other and I just finished, "When He Was Wicked." "The Duke and I" had been my favorite one but "When He Was Wicked" has most definitely equaled it. I can sum up why I thought this book was excellent in one sentence - I loved how Michael loved Francesca in this story. It was different from the other Bridgerton books because of the depth of Michael's love for her (from the beginning of the story) and it was a refreshing change from the style of the other books where the hero doesn't realize he loves the heroine until almost the end of the book. I fell in love with Michael in this story and felt a connection with both Michael and Francesca that rarely happens with characters in a book. The only other couple I enjoyed this much in the Bridgerton series was Simon and Daphne in the 1st book. I enjoyed the other Bridgerton books but not on the same level as I enjoyed "The Duke and I" and "When He Was Wicked." I've re-read both of these more than once and was sorry when they ended. "When He Was Wicked" is also much steamier than the previous 5 books and I think it's great how Ms. Quinn doesn't make the stories or the siblings all the same. I did not think the story was depressing or dark at all as a few of the reviews here say. Yes, it wasn't as lighthearted and comedic as some of the other Bridgerton books but that just made the emotional intensity of the characters stand out all the more. I think Julia Quinn is one heck of a great author to be able to create characters that surprise and enthrall the reader especially in a series like this where she is writing a book about each Bridgerton sibling. I haven't read the 2nd Epilogue as yet for "When He Was Wicked" and I'm looking forward to doing that; it'll be wonderful to re-visit Michael and Francesca for a few more chapters. I want to wait until the author releases all eight of the 2nd Epilogues in their own book as I understand she is now in the process of doing (hopefully this year). Thank you, Julia, for such a great read - I totally enjoyed "When He Was Wicked"!!!

Boek beter dan de serie
Het fijne van dit boek is dat ze makkelijk te lezen is en beter is dan de serie. Hou je van romantische romans, familie series en humor dan is dit een boek voor jou.
