Tried for bad knee.
After having to take time out from treadmill running due to a bad knee(over 2years out) I used to do 30 miles a week. I was a bit worried about getting back into running after my knee healed itself through rest and limited exercise . Did a lot of research , bought these , all I can say is that since using them exclusively on the treadmill for the past 3 months my knee has no pain and I’m back up to the distance I was at when I had to quit running. TBH I have no real scientific proof that it’s down to the Brooks trainers but for me it is what it is. The trainers are the only change I made.

They’re Good - but could be better
I’ve enjoyed for a year now using a couple of pairs of Brooks Ghost13s. I was getting the odd niggle towards the end of a 10k session and after much research went for these are they are supposed to better support alignment - which can go when fatigued.I ordered a pair the same size as the Ghosts. However, the fitting is larger, by about a 1/4 to a 1/2 size, so be wary. There is much more room in the toe area than in the Ghosts both length and width, but the actual treaded area underfoot seems narrower when running, as in less breadth to absorb impact. The shoes do provide support and you do notice the inner heel area in particular working more than on the Ghosts, to stop pronation or other lateral movements etc. They aren’t as soft as the Ghosts, but are notable softer than the last pair of Adrenaline’s I used to have (19s).They are ok on 10k runs and I’ve been getting some of my best VO2 levels with these straight out of the box. In terms of speed they don’t encourage you to go as fast as the Ghosts, but I would say my consistency is better with these in terms of lap times which are all within 10 seconds of each other regardless of gradient over the kilometre. My biggest two gripes with them are:HEEL - in the Ghost once your heel drops into the shoe, it’s secure. With these, even if you go for a smaller size than you usually do, the heel isn’t grippy enough, so you float around at the back of the shoe. It’s something that annoyed me so much initially I sent them back. Even with a second pair a half size smaller than my usually sizes it still bugged me immensely. However, I stuck with them, and was ultimately glad I did. Brooks need to angle the heel inwards a little more, and put a bit more padding around it like the Ghost.ARCH - the arch is supposed to be more pronounced to promote more stability. However, for me personally, it has led to hot spots on the foot near the arch. I think this is probably exacerbated by the heel not providing enough front to back stability so the foot is moving slightly forward and back, generating friction as it drops into the heel raiser.Overall though, if you want a pair of good road shoes, that are well sprung, yet supportive, these are the ones to get, just be careful of sizing.
