iCarsoft HD V3.0 Heavy Duty Diesel Truck Diagnostic Scanner Tool Code Reader

I recommend this code scanner. I purchased this model because of features --- especially its ability to scan diesel trucks and cars --- and price. It worked very well when I received it, testing it on my 2015 Hyundai. A few months later, I had a "check engine" indication on my 2019 RV, built on a Freighliner/Cummins chassis. I hooked up the HD 3.0 using the J1939 adapter, but had difficulty making an electronic connection. Using the Amazon link to contact the seller/manufacturer for support, I opted to write an e-mail so I could provide details. I was pleasantly surprised to hear back the next morning with a couple of specifics questions, including requesting details about the vehicle. I responded within a few hours, including more details about the step-by-step process I performed connecting and selecting a test. And, importantly, information noted on my on-board readout and indicator lights. The next morning I received a zip file with a software update that fixed my issue. Bottom line, using e-mail we were able to exchange information that helped tech support quickly provide the software solution. I was very impressed.

It would read codes of my 2002 Rv a Freightliner Xc with a 5.9 Cummins. I couldn't clear the code but I don't think it's the reader's fault. If you do thek live data it's very good from total miles/hours and fuel usage from the ecm. I was surprised it would not read ABS codes on a 2011 Jeep Patriot. It's a keeper in my RV, I'm sure the codes from the 6 pin connector are pointing you in the direction but not totally accurate to the problem.

I used this "Heavy Truck" Scanner on my 2004 RV with a 2003 Cummins ISC-350 diesel; and I was able to read a nd clear the DTC codes with the key in the 'ON" position, but not with the engine running. So, don't make this mistake. In addition, FYI, some Heavy Truck Scanners my fail if you try clearing the codes with the engine running, but not this one! So, I will keep this scanner for on the road trouble shooting and I recommend every RVer carry one.

We have 3 Freightliner M2 shred trucks and this will hook up and seems to try to interact with them but does nothing. Except make the ABS light freak out. Can't pull engine codes, read them, reset them, nor any other system like chassis or trans or DEF. Maybe I got a bad unit but it seems to be in fully working order. I went online and updated it with the most recent software and still nothing. Like I said it seems to work according to its parameters but it cannot interact with these Freightliners.

This device does the job of viewing the information I think where it doesn’t do a great job is allowing you to view and execute commands

I have a Fleetwood coach and on my last trip I had engine trouble. It was horrible not knowing what was going on. It was on a weekend and I was unable to get help. Unsure if I was hurting the engine by continuing to drive it l felt helpless. I ordered this, received it the next day, and found the trouble. With that knowledge I knew I was ok for a while. Able to tell a Frightliner dealer the codes over the phone they told me what to do to get to them. I now keep it on the coach just for piece of mind. The not knowing is the worst thing to me. It worked great giving me the same code their test gear at the shop did. Well worth the money.

My cousin, a master mechanic, was skeptical when I told him I bought this scanner/diagnostic tool. He's got about $7k into his, after all. But we were both actually really surprised at how well this works. My problem turned out to be grounding issues with the wiring, something that messes with even the best diagnostic tools, yet this one kept pinpointing the problem area which was the fuel injectors. At first we thought it might not be working because it would give a code for fuel injector 4, then fuel injector 8, then 7 and so on, but after we started cleaning or replacing different wires and cables, we noticed the fuel injectors would begin to buzz when they shouldn't have been. That's when we realized it was a short effecting all of the fuel injectors and that the diagnostic tool was in fact steering us in the right direction.
