ok-ish
I really wanted to like this book, especially as it came recommended by Janina Fisher who i think is really great. --However, i found myself disappointed. The exercises are rather complicated (even for someone with a professional psychotherapy background). The examples aren't very well chosen either. As others have already pointed out, the book also contains a lot of grammar mistakes and is not well edited in general. This was a turn down for me as it conveys a certain attitude of carelessness. Another worrying thing I found is the money orientation. While the resources are indeed free (as promised in the book), you need to register in order to get access to them. You are then prompted to buy other courses and--when you don't buy them--you are again asked why not.--While people should of course receive money for their work, this kind of pushing people again to me conveys the wrong kind of attitude--one that is at odds with the attitude the book (the author) wants to convey.

Nourishing advice to take to heart
Deirdre Fay's methods to help people feel safely embodied have been years in the making. Here they are in one book! A lot of people have road tested her methods; me for one. I have used her methods to shift my avoidant attachment style to a more secure one. This book asks a lot of involvement from the reader. Notice, discover, attend, attune, be with your own inner experience in a new, nourishing way. Practice often, in minute amounts. That's what works for me. Deirdre Fay supplements the book's material with free videos, paid courses and an online community, but this book together with your own commitment to practice its methods will be powerful. If my own experience can be of any help, here it is. I grew up in both an icy and hotly chaotic household. I learned to suppress my pain, or so I thought. My ability to emotionally resonate with people, however, was spotty at best. I couldn't make friends with women, often a consequence of being an unloved, marginalized child. Now, having practiced the skills over time, I can feel a difference. I'm appreciating my feelings. I can feel myself feeling the other person, and them feeling me. It can still unnerve me, but Deirdre's message is true: inner safety can be cultivated. I am creating a new template for my brain, body and heart so that my soul essence can reside comfortably within me. We are the alchemists who can take the tiny bits of our present moment experience and make something deeply real and satisfying from them. We actually have a lot of capacities already within us, often underrated, and unappreciated to draw on. We have signals from within that are brilliant and these can guide us. Sometimes I get discouraged. It's not an easy or quick fix. Deirdre breaks it down beautifully, though, while still keeping the big picture, and this motivates me. I'm happy to report that my social anxiety is reduced. Reactivity is down. Shame is absent. A sense of wonder and holiness have appeared. If any of this appeals to you, I recommend this book.
