What diameter hole punch do I need for these please?

I am not sure which hole you are referring to. The key rings are 2.2 mm thick (0.087") and the clasp is 1.9 mm thick (0.075") just above the point where it opens. I hope this helps.

Would these be any good for clipping two zips together on a bag to stop them from opening?

Yes, I believe they would as long as they are large or thick zips.
