nice seat. superb value. not perfect - very noisy when nobody is in the seat but i have solutions for that
i'd give it 4.5 stars but that's ok. the seat is a decent design. nice quality. velcro was placed haphazardly on the underside of the seat so it doesn't line up very well with the mating sides on the seat itself, but it still sticks. no biggie. i am riding a three speed Jamis Earth Cruiser with full fenders, a giant Cloud 9 seat and extended seat post. i have put a massive amount of miles on this bike over the past decade or so. the brackets fit fine but it took a bit of finagling to get it all to mount evenly, etc. i am not sure how well this would fit on a smaller bike with fenders and a lower seat height. i'm a giant dude with a giant bike and imo this bracket system barely fits. i had to remove my rear seat post-mounted reflector to make room. i'm pretty handy and this was not the easiest installation to get it right and even. could be the bike and all the stuff in the way, i know. fitment of the plastic seat to the bracket base is not tight. it's SAFE, but not tight. that means....A TON OF RATTLES WHEN NO CHILD IS IN THE SEAT. and i ride this bike a lot w/o my son so that is just unacceptable for me. so, i figured out the rattling points. they are: - the seat bottom on the brackets - the blue foot cups in footwells of the seat - the front of the bracket "tray" captured in the part of the seat with the red knob my solutions for all of this were to place zip ties, one on each side, cinched down around part of the bracket and the seat underneath the gray cushion. that pulls the seat tight to the bracket. then i flush cut the zip tie ends after cinching hard, so they don't cut the cushion when you replace it. i had to remove the red cross key thing to do this but i was able to re-attach it once i had the zip ties tightened. i placed 1/4" foam seal tape on strategic points on the blue foot cups where they rub/tap the gray footwells of the seat. you'll see. i put the adhesive side on the blue foot cups so the foam will always be in contact with the gray plastic no matter where the blue cup is mounted. i placed folded paper towel pieces along the black bar that is captured by the front piece with the red knob then closed it and tightened the red knob. also, when baby isn't in there, i make it so the harness straps are running outside of the cross bar/grab bar and tighten them. i ride on some rough roads and have Vermin knobby tires and without baby, all of these mods have calmed down like 95% of the rattles. it's very tolerable now. my son likes the seat. there is no way i can get the spoke protector mounted but that is fine because his feet can't get to the spokes because of the seat height and fender.

Great buy!
This was a good buy. It was easy to install and looked good on my husband’s bike. It is durable and stable. My daughter is 11 months and she fit pretty good in it even though she is on the smaller side. It looks like she will be able to fit in this for the next couple of years. We took a 2-3 hour ride and she was so comfortable she fell asleep for most of it. There are straps that go across the footing area so that it prevents your kid from kicking you. The straps are durable that I didn’t have to worry about her toppling out.

Great bike carrier
This is our second bike carrier from Schwinn. Years and years ago we purchased for our children, and now we are buying for our grandchildren. This is a very good product. First, it is easy to assemble right out of the box. The price is great for this kind of product. Our first grandchild used this for about three years as he was on the smaller size, but worked well. Our second grandson was much bigger. He would have loved to ride in this for many years, but by the time he was 2.5 he out grew this. Child must be at least a year old and have good head control. We always used helmets and that is where some of our negative comments come from. The old seats were a little more contoured to accommodate the helmets. This one, if you have a taller child, does not have the space for helmet, and head is just a tad tilted forward. Also, the foot area is too narrow. Its works, but personally feel if a bit wider would accommodate wider feet better. But, it is very sturdy and always felt safe with my babies. Attaching to bicycle can be a little confusing as the bracket to attach is very alignment specific. Always use as directed because like anything it could come loose. I will be using with more grandchildren as it is great to get them out and about safely attached to me.

Perfect!
Schwinn chair for schwinn bike - what could be better? Fits perfectly. Sturdy and durable, comfortable for my kid. Nice quality, easy assembly. The great plus that the chair comes with the base and can be easily removed from the base with 2 moves. Love it

Not bad
We also have the Thule rack child seat. This one was a lot cheaper and includes the rack. That's a pretty good value. The bad thing is the rack does not offer a lot of versatility in installation for the various bike geometries. I tried to install this on my wife's Trek hybrid. She is short so the seat post is low. There is simply not enough adjustability to get the rack sitting flat. Moreover, the bolt for the seatpost clamp are way too long and rub the leg when riding. Maybe this is because the seat is low and the clamp is mounted close to the seat. In any case, it just doesn't work. Solution: Sunlite makes an extended strut kit and also a seatpost mount for a rack. Will update once I get it installed. PROS: -good seat. straps are secure. feet are contained. belly bar is detachable. Head support included. -rear rack included. Can be used without seat. -affordable price -good safety system for attaching seat to rack CONS -universal fit of rack is not universal -seat not tiltable UPDATE: so my wife wiped out while riding her bike with this seat. Our 15 mo. old was shaken up but was physically unscathed. I got to say that the seat provides very good protection when you go sideways and land. I can't say the same for other seats like the Thule that I have on my bike that is more of an open design.

Worth the money!
I bought this for my 4 year old. She doesn't know how to ride her own bike yet and we love to go on family rides together so we ordered this to bring her with us. She absolutely loves it. She is able to see all around and feels safe in it. We did have an accident where the bike tipped over with her inside and this thing nestled her in so well she never touched the ground just the side of the seat did. It's very durable and the weight isn't bad at all. It sits a bit close to the rider's seat so her knees hit my bum sometimes, but that is also because she is starting to outgrow it. The design is perfect because the holes in the back keep her from getting to hot too. I will warn that it can be a bit tricky to install and tighten the screws properly. It's easier with someone else helping, but can be done solo. Just be patient with it and play with it until you get it where you want it. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to big their little ones for a ride.

No crossbar, carrier discontinued
Spoiler alert this carrier is discontinued and no parts are available for replacement per Schwinn customer service; referred back to Amazon to return and refund. But if you are comfortable with how things are and the necessary safety points operate accordingly then proceed with caution and know its not worth the value of money especially if parts are missing and could jeopardized safety. This was an item fairly easy to assemble and attach to an early 80s GT Force road bike. You will need an adjustable wrench and a screwdriver. However the box was missing the crossbar or handrail...extra work to hunt it down and possibly pay extra when it was suppose to be included. Night riding is not promoted with a child in a carrier but in the event, there is only one reflector. Its a necessity to add a rear red light, white front light, tire reflectors, brilliant stricker reflectors, and at least one mirror. The spoke guard design is okay but would have been best if better explained and taken a little more time on. I will adjust it later to see if there is a better option to close more gaps with the four ties provided. The carrier fits comfortable, straps are adjustable but not for child who can unbuckle their self. The seat cusion is thick but had velcro straps on buttom that were adhere to plastic bag it was packaged in which was challenging and difficult to remove to properly adhere to the seat of the carrier. The overall carrier provides stability and is an enjoyment.
