If my Dachshund will use it, your dog will use it.
Our 12 year-old dachshund is the poster-dog for refusing to properly utilize clever and popular doggy inventions. When he drinks water, he absolutely guzzles like he's been in the desert for a week, and then coughs violently and often re-gifts the H2O to us. This bowl works. It has reduced his coughing by at least 75%, and so far no more water yawns.Wish I'd seen this bowl years ago.

which is better but not good enough
My dog chokes on his water every time he drinks. I'm worried that now that he's old and his health is deteriorating, he's going to end up aspirating the water and it will develop into a pneumonia. I decided to give this bowl a try. I would say it decreases the choking by 50%, which is better but not good enough. I am considering just adding cornstarch to his water to just thicken it enough to see if helps.Update : I tried thickening his liquids, that worked, but ended up making his beard hard and the drips would leave hard drops on my carpet. I ended up getting the outward hound fun feeder mini dog mat from petsmart (the one with the waves) and filled it up only to the lowest Ridge, facing the waves horizontal to him so his tongue would hit a Ridge as he drank and put that in a regular dog bowl. He's had 0 choking episodes on that in the 5 days we've had it, so I recommend that. FYI, I have a shih tzu, so not sure if the big mat works for bigger dogs as they have 2 sizes, but worked great for a little dog.

good concept
I wasn't sure how many stars to give this product. The concept is fabulous though, so I guess 4 stars - one star taken away due to the reservoir being too small for my needs. Our newish puppy doesn't know how to drink out of a water bowl. She puts her entire snout in mucking up the water every time. I used to have to change the water 6-7 times a day due to her habits. Our dog sitter suggested a water fountain style of watering system used for cats, but I was having a hard time deciding on which one to get and feeling unhappy with the high cost, so I found this product instead when researching.Since the reservoir of the water bowl was too small for my two large breed dogs, I simply took the floater off and put it in the bowl I was using prior to this product arriving at my house. The dogs have no issues drinking with the floater in the bowl and it has solved the issue of the pup putting her whole face in the water! And I love the heart in the middle, as the pup has a heart shaped marking on her side - matchy matchy!

Floating dish= Chew toy
So... the concept is great! My dog chugs water and pukes.. genius. My dog also chews on everything. Put the 2 together and you have a recipe for disaster. My dog drank the water slowly (good dog) then ate the plate that sits in the bowl (bad dog). So if you have a dog that likes to chew, this bowl gives your dog just that.. a nice tasty plastic treat after she drinks. If there was a stainless steel version of this bowl I’d pay good money for it but unfortunately I have to give 3 stars due to sturdiness. This bowl is definitely not designed for “chewers.”

My Dog Wouldn't Drink Out of It
I have a chihuahua who has a throat issue that makes him cough after drinking so thought I would try this since people said it worked for them but he hated it. The center piece just bounces around and it doesn't hold more than a couple of drops on it so he was trying to drink around it but it freaked him out. It might work better if the center piece had a little weight to it to keep it from bobbing around so much. Maybe it works better for big dogs.

So far, so good--
I just got this item--today was the first full day of using it. I had bought it to keep my pupper from chugging too much water first thing in the morning, only to urp it back up. Whether it was coincidence or not, no clean-up this morning! My one comment is that the item is a bit pricey...but if it works in the long run, it's money well spent.

Very nice.
I got this for my dog who drinks way too fast. He is an older dog and has an elevated bowl. The inside piece was too small to use in that but was quite effective in the bowl it came with. Very happy with purchase

works!
I actually just took the float from the set and put it into my dogs existing stainless water bowl, I have to say this simple design has REALLY helped with my one Pug that gulps and aspirates and then spews water to a significant degree! Wish I had discovered this years ago!
