10 years in - still works perfectly!
The WixGear Magnetic Phone Holder is simple, sturdy, and has worked perfectly for 10 years. When I’ve upgraded/switched phones, I transfer the metal plate to my phone case (in the picture) and it works flawlessly. Installation takes seconds, and the magnet is strong enough to hold my phone securely, even on bumpy roads. I have bought several 2-packs as our teenagers started driving and we added cars and set them up with the same system. This way, with extra metal plates, our family can use them in multiple cars. Compact, reliable, and excellent value for the price!

Hands down, this is the best cell phone car mount!
UPDATE #3: It’s now been almost 8 years since my purchase and I still love and use this car mount. I’m still using it with my iPhone 13 but since switched to the MagOne 2nd Gen phone gripe, which it works wonderfully with.UPDATE #2: Came to Amazon to buy new magnetic plates for a new phone and figured I’d update my review to mention that it’s now been almost 4 years since my purchase and I still love the simplicity of this car mount. I especially love how it still works with a a Love Handle strap attached to the case (read review for details). I originally used it with an iPhone 7 Plus and now use it with an iPhone 13.UPDATE #1: 2 years later and still love this car mount.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’ve used a few different car mounts, including magnetic types and none of them even come close to how simple and easy this one is to use.A prior magnetic car mount I used came with a bulky magnet that went on my phone and a similar magnet that clipped onto to the vent. However, the magnet that was attached to my phone damaged every credit/debit card I owned as I often carry my wallet against my phone in one hand. The magnet on my phone apparently interfered with the magnetic strips. The other mount I used is the type that has tension arms that hugs your phone, which then attaches via a vent clip. Having an iPhone 6 Plus and now a 7 Plus, it really pushed the arm tension to the max. I would have to remove the mount from the vent to squeeze my phone into the arms each time I used it and often, the mount would come off the vent when trying to release my phone. As a result, the rubber on the prongs began to stretch, tear and bunch up into the gaps meant for the vent. I tried to cut it back but then it wouldn’t fit snuggly and the revealed metal scratched the plastic vent. When that mount broke, I ordered this one, making sure that the magnetic plates did not affect the magnetic strips of debit/credit cards. I’ve had this mount for over a year now and it hasn’t damaged a single one.Since my phone is large and heavy, I positioned both magnetic plates horizontally within the inside of my phone’s case, which is a decently thick hard shell case. This ensures that almost the entire back side of my phone can be attached to the car mount so I can plop it on without having to readjust it.One vent clip magnet did the trick and steadily held my iPhone 7 Plus. But then without thinking, I purchased and installed a “Love Handle”. It’s basically an eslastic loop used to hold my phone for one hand typing, and is attached via a 2.5”x1” inch plastic adhesive piece. I installed it in the center, vertically just over an inch down from the Apple logo so it comes down to about half an inch from the bottom. Needless to say, the added a 2.5” long and 1” wide uneven surface disrupted the force between the magnetic plates in my case and the vent clip magnet.BUT! I remembered this came with two vent magnets so I attached one on the far left of my vent and the other on the far right which created a gap of just over 1 inch. Now, my Love Handle fits comfortably in this gap and the magnets hold onto my phone perfectly. My phone has NEVER fallen off the mount, which is impressive consindering how large and heavy my phone is, especially with the case. I’ve included pictures of my setup in the event you can’t picture it (my car is due for a cleaning). The magnets are so strong that I still can position my phone horizontally without issues, even with the uneven surface created by the Love Handle. The best part? There is no wear and tear since I’ve NEVER had to reinstall these vent magnets so the rubber hasn’t worn or stretched at all.As you can tell, I love this car mount and highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy one!

Holds Well but Rotation Could Be Better
Holds Well but Rotation Could Be BetterThis WixGear magnetic phone holder comes as a two-pack, which is convenient if you use more than one car or want a spare. The magnet itself is strong enough to hold my phone securely, even over bumps and during quick turns, which gives me confidence it won’t fall. Installing it into the air vent was simple—just push and it clips in snugly. That said, the design isn’t perfect. Once the phone is mounted, it doesn’t swivel or rotate as freely as I’d like. It tends to stay fixed in one position, so adjusting angles while driving is limited. Also, depending on the vent style in your car, the weight of the phone can sometimes make the vent sag a little.Still, for the price and the fact you get two, this is a practical option if you don’t mind minor adjustments. It’s small, discreet, and doesn’t clutter the dashboard like some bulkier mounts.Bottom line: A simple, strong magnetic holder that gets the job done, but expect limited flexibility in adjusting viewing angles.

Cheap and strong magnet.
Been wanting to buy one of these for years. I'm not into the whole pop-sockets and things that you glue to stick to your phone cover to even on the outside of your case. I like a clean look and I like my phone in my pocket. So getting something that wouldn't protrude from the phone was a must. I was skeptical of the magnet strength but when I got it installed was very pleased. I also didn't want to stick or glue anything to my car so something that hooked to the air vents was a must.I read the reviews and one said to take the piece that sticks to your phone and just place it between your phone cover and the phone itself. You can peal and stick it to the back of you phone but if you ever change phones you'll need to use another sticky pad. It might slide around a little but I used the larger pad and don't have issues with where to put on the car mount. The installation of the car mount it pretty easy. Depending on your air vents it may work out to be in the perfect spot or not. For my car it's in a great spot. The car mount also seems solid and in place.Overall it's a great way to get your phone up and in better sight if you need GPS or any music controls. That's pretty much what I use it for. For the money this also seemed to be the cheapest option. In all pretty happy with this purchase and would highly recommend.Update 5-13-19:So over a year later and this is still a great product. I even put one of the mounts in my wife's car. It's quite different that my car and the vent is at sharper angle but nonetheless still works good. I bought a new car this year and it still fits well on the vent. I use it just about ever time I get into the car. It's very handy to use and much safer if you need to use your phone. I even switched phones. I did stick the magnet that goes on the phone onto the inside of the phone case. If you change cases you'll have to remember to take it out. But you could, just as I did before, put the magnet between the case and the phone. I stuck it to the case because the magnet does move and I feel like I could easily remove (if I remember) it when or if I change cases. I still love that there is nothing sticking out from the phone the magnet is really strong. Highly recommend this as a cheap and easy way to mount your phone in your car.

Overall a good product, a couple of cons
I ordered this product for my iPhone 6 Plus. The product came with 2 round receiver magnets to attach to car heating/air vents, 2 magnetic rectangle plates and 2 magnetic circle plates to stick on your phone or in your phone case, and 2 rectangle and 2 circle sticker films (I can't figure out what these are for- maybe to keep the magnets from rubbing on your phone case?). The plates have a paper, like the back of a sticker, which if pulled off would expose a sticky side of the magnet which you could use to attach the plates to your phone or your case. I did not peel them off because the plates stay in my phone case just fine once the case is on with no need to stick them. This way, I can move them from case to case when I switch. I use a thin cosmetic case on my phone, and since my phone is so large I placed 2 of the 4 thin magnetic plates in my phone case and then put the case back on. Even though my case is thin, I cannot feel or see the magnets. I drive a Toyota Prius, and I placed one receiver magnet on the vent on the driver's side, and the other on the passenger side (for me to use while my husband is driving). I am impressed with the strongness of the magnets and how well they snap together considering how paper thin the plates are. They aren't easy to pull apart from the receiver bases. My phone stays stuck while driving, even on bumpy roads. You could use this one kit for two phones in two separate cars if you wanted to. The only con, for me, is that the receiver magnets don't hold on to my vents as securely as I wish they did. Sometimes when I grab my phone off quickly, the receiver magnet comes off the vent and comes with my phone. I wish there was some way to make them stay on the vents a little better. Even so, overall I am very happy with this product, especially for less than $10! It makes it so easy to keep your phone within reach and view while driving when using it for navigation. It sure beats throwing the phone on the passenger seat or in the cup holders. EDIT: After using these for about a week in the 100 degree summer weather, I've noticed another con.The magnetic base itself blocks about half of my cool air vent, which prevents half of my cool air from blowing on me in the 100 degree car. Worse, when my phone is on the base, my large phone blocks the entire air vent! This may not bother some people, especially those who typically direct the air flow away from themselves when driving, but I use the cool air from the vent as a fan pointed directly on me in the summer. EDIT #2: I recently switched to a phone case that has a clear back, and can't use the magnets with it because they show and look dumb. I am now searching for a non-magnetic car phone holder until I switch to another (not clear) case.

Best car mount and great pricing!
I tried a few different types of car mounts and this is by far the most user friendly one. I've tried: 1) the clamps that mount onto your A/C vents, 2) the clamps that mount via your CD player and 3) this one - magnetic one that mounts on your vent. I didn't like the ones that clamp / grip your phone. While it holds very securely, it requires you to use two hands to pull the clamp in order to mount and remove the phone every time. And when you remove the phone, more often than not, the whole thing would come off the vent and you have to put it back in place (which is very quick and easy, but annoying that it happens all of the time). The ones w/ the clamps are also very clunky and take up a lot of space - it's an eyesore. I feel like an uber / lyft driver. The magnetic ones are awesome b/c you can mount and remove w/ one hand. And the part that mounts to the A/C vent is very small - much more subtle than the big clamps. I was nervous that having a magnet next to my phone would somehow mess up the phone, but hasn't been an issue so far. I have a thin hardshell phone case and i put the magnetic plate btwn the phone and the case and not on the outside of the case. The magnetic plate still works thru the plastic case. There is just enough magnetic hold to keep the phone mounted, but also makes it very easy to remove the phone when you're getting out of the car. If the magnetic plate is on the outside of your phone case, the magnetic connection is much stronger, so may require a bit more effort to separate from the piece that connects to your vent. The one minor downside of this magnetic mount is that it doesn't have the 360 degree swivel / rotation that some of the other ones have. It hasn't been an issue for me, but just wanted to point that out in case that is a major decision factor for you.

Best one I've tried
I've tried 6 different phone holders, and this one is the best. It is dirt simple to operate, is small enough to take with me when I travel and works great. The plate that comes with I installed UNDER my protective cover, yet the magnet is still strong enough to hold the phone with NO drops to date, despite the omnipresent potholes in my area. But, the magnet is not so strong I can't remove the phone with ease. It makes using the phone for navigation, or hands free so easy to use, and leaves the power port completely unencumbered to plug in the USB cable for charging and allow the phone to be turned any way you want. One benefit I haven't heard discussed, with the phone attached to a vent, the cooling air from the vent helps keep the phone cooler, even when plugged in. Two questions I've seen asked. One, will the magnet hurt cards with a magnetic strip (such as a credit card or room key). Any magnet produces a magnetic field, which over time will rearrange any magnetic strip. If you store your CCs on the back of the phone, I would not use this item. (the company makes others). I have had the vibrating battery wipe hotel cards by being in close proximity. Eventually, you will have a problem. Second, the magnet does have a strong hold. You will pull out the magnet if you just jerk the phone out. Learn to tilt the phone up or down, or left or right and sort of "peel" it away from the magnet, and it will stay in place. IMO the benefits far outweigh this issue.Revision 1/16/17 - Recently replaced my phone and case with a SUPCASE Full-body Rugged Holster Case (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BLEWFNS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I put the magnetic plate inside the holder, and I have had issues. HOWEVER, this is not the products fault, but the new case's fault. The new case has an indentation on the back of the case, which only allows a small surface area for the magnet to grab onto (unlike my original Otterbox). I find it no longer provides enough surface area on the back of the case for the magnet to grip except on only the smoothest of roads. I really liked this product. My bad for not thinking through the new case purchase.

The best and very strong magnet
For the price you pay it does a pretty decent job to hold the phone in the car and not take too much space
