Batman War Games 2

All hell breaks loose for Batman and allies. Great art, a status quo shattering Batstory. I think that this should be read in conjunction to Identity Crisis. Although the stories are unrelated, there are events that are discussed that happen in coinciding stories.

As with the first entry in this series, there is lots of good story and art to enjoy here.

Not a must have, but it gets better than vol 1(it sucks).

Probably one of the best Bat Family crossovers I’ve ever read.This is a review of Vol 1 and 2 because they both continue the story.What is there not to love?Action, suspense, loss and love and grief!If you buy vol 1 and 2 of these editions don’t make the same mistake as I did and think you need other War crimes books, this has the whole run!My only grumble is Spoilers War diary is narrated with Joint up writing like in a diary, I struggled to read it but that’s my only grumble.These are hefty books I have to say. The War Games saga is just magnificently written and shows a real cold side to Batman and then a real delicate side to his psyche.We get the return of a bad guy too!If you’re a new reader to Batman this could be a reasonable starting off point because although their is continuity, it doesn’t jade New Readers but please start at Volume 1.You get some lovely variant covers in this book with some brilliant artists like Jock and Jim Lee.For the amount of content you get this book is one holy grail of Batman stories and really peels back the layers of Batman to show what kind of stuff he’s made from.This is a basic paper back but bigger than your usual 150 page plus kind but not so big it’s uncomfortable to read.The pages are nice and glossy in both books and there isn’t much to say beyond that but to get stuck in.
