This stuff works great! Recently placed a small fountain in my front beds and within days there was green algae all over the wet surfaces. I scrubbed it off several times and the algae always returned within a day or two. Found this item on Amazon and purchased it, and right away it worked. I drop a capful or two of this stuff into the fountain and the water remains clear and free of algae. Wish I had found it sooner.

It isn't as good as some algae removers but it doesn't harm birds and my fountain is full of birds taking a bath and also drinking.

I've been using this for a few years and it is a lifesaver but recently I have been getting bottles with chunks or little bits that look like white small fish food pieces (see photo). If you use it for a fountain you do not expect birds to drink from it is great!! I use it for a bird bath that they drink from all day and I don't know if those chunks will hurt the poor babies! I was so mad there were chunks I just kept throwing the bottles away and ordering more. This is why I knocked it down a star. My husband finally gave me a filter to try and it worked okay. The photo shows what I filered out of the bottle. There are still little bits but hopefully they won't hurt the birds. I dump my bird bath out every day and fill it back up and then add the product to keep from getting build up in the bath. It works great for preventing buildup. As you can see from the bluebird photo there is still debris in the bath but that is all thanks to the frequent use my bird bath gets. They leave that much food and poop in it daily and this product still prevents any unwanted buildup. Now if the birds would just stop pooping in it...

Its okay, not the best

This product breaks down the buildup in fountains and it's safe for the birds. The birds love drinking and bathing in my fountain. Larger size of the product would be nice.

I made a little 'pond' out of a planter. It has rocks in it that I've collected over many years. The water spits out a cement frogs mouth via a copper tube. After a couple months , I noticed it getting pretty green (I hadn't thought of algae). I put an ounce of 'Sanco Bird Bath and Fountain Maintenance' in and came back after a half hour or so - WOW! Frog is spitting clear water! Rocks aren't covered in algae. Curious to see how often it needs to be done.

I have just started using this but it seems to be helping keep the water in my water fountains clear. It does not have any odor to it and is easy to use.

Good cleaner for outdoor fountain, it really works!

I installed a birdbath this year and it's become very popular, but the water quickly turned green, so I thought I'd give this a go. I followed the instructions, and I think it reduced the algae growth a little, but it didn't last long and was not effective enough to consider repurchasing. I shall constitute regularly replacing the water and scrubbing the birdbath to keep on top of the algal growth so our feathered friends can continue enjoying their spa.
