Criminal Psychology: Understanding the Criminal Mind and Its Nature Through Criminal Profiling

I like to watch crime shows and especially true crime stories these days, so I became very interested in how the mind of these killers work. I got this book just because of that. The book is not a professional, medical kind of textbook. It is written in plain language and it is very easy to understand for a beginner like me who knows next to nothing about psychology. I enjoyed reading it, it is really fascinating to see theories behind the killers mind and the way that they think. And kind of scary, too. I recommend the book, I liked it a lot. If you are interested in this kind of literature, it should provide you with some very interesting insights and it is fun to read too.

This was a great read, I've been intrigued by the criminal mind for sometime. I must admit that I couldn't put this book down! I found two chapters in particular very informative, Chapter 3 'Is discipline the issue' and chapter 4 'Get With The Program'. Chapter 3 discusses whether an upbringing has an influence in forming a criminal mind and chapter 4 highlights the very fact that an individuals state of mind has a major part to play. My favorite part of the book was Chapter 6 'Is the Gene pool to Blame' this made very interesting reading as the author discusses whether a criminal mind is hereditary. A great book and essential if you have an interest in criminal profiling or if you are simply intrigued by criminal psychology.

This "book" is more like a poorly written essay! It boasts of 104 pages, but what is neglected is the inappropriately large font that is used and the added paragraphs in alleged chapters that say "we will talk about it later." Not only is it poorly written and unedited, but it could be reduced to approximately 20 pages in standard format and by eliminating the needless paragraphs saying the topic will be addressed later. A google search of "criminal psychology" would be extremely in-depth by comparison and far more scintillating! This glorified pamphlet can't even be used as a doorstop. The author's conscience is questionable as are the author's ethics because they have chosen to sell this drivel, label it a book, include a table of contents (no doubt to add another page to the count) to suggest something worthy of being called a chapter, and largely repeat what had already been covered in differing general terms elsewhere in the "book!" BUYER BEWARE: You would be better served by watching a single episode of some crime television series than reading this crap!

Criminal Psychology has always been one of my interest. I love watching crimes and investigation. It's interesting and intriguing at the same time. This book will provide you a better understanding on how a criminal think and what goes on through there minds. The author briefly discussed why they are the way that they are and what we can do to prevent the cycle. Discover what triggered them to arrive at the most horrifying event in their lives. This book is a great source of information. It's better to be aware and knowledgable when it comes to this things.

I started to have interest in criminal psychology when I watched a crime drama series which shows that there is a universal facial reaction to every feeling that humans can express. Judging from the title, I thought this book would be full of technical terms which will surely overwhelm me; surprisingly, it was written in a manner that a layperson could understand. It captured my interest from beginning to end. Aside from quenching my curiosity as to how a person could resort to violence and murder, it enlightened me on the impact of heredity and upbringing to an individual. I hope that people take their time to read this as this is timely and relevant.

This book is set up like a book for elementary school children. There are barely any facts in it and no reference to any specific research. I was really excited to get this because I love learning about criminal psychology and I am a psychology major but I was severely let down by this book. Read through the first couple pages to try and give it a chance but ended up returning it.

Do not buy. Typos and miss information. I don’t blame the seller. They didn’t write it and probably didn’t read it. They also shipped it very fast.

This book is a little scary for me as a usual man who isn’t acquainted with criminalistics and criminals. But it is very informative for those who want to know more about our scaring world. The first, and the most important, thing that I understood from the book is: children, while growing, need a lot of love, attention, and understanding. Lack of these feelings is the main reason why some people become criminals in adult age. Also there are many other factors that trigger killing intentions in these people. It is very important to study criminals’ behavior and find out their ulterior motives. Then results of these studies could be used for understanding and preventing people from horrible crimes. I like this book very much!

Good book.Interesting

I was never interested In learning about how criminals think. HOWEVER, for the sake of my family and friends, I am happy i read this book. Some of us are raising criminals in our own homes and have no idea. This book really digs in the details; from childhood symptoms that eventually grow to crazy psycho criminal. If we all knew this information, we would be such greater parents and friends, because every now and then we hear of those crazy stories of a serial killer murdering innocent people. I absolutely recommend this book. The information and knowledge you gain from this can save your life.

Worth a read. Having worked in prisons. Makes you think how the environment makes a Big difference . Q is should we change the system
