Extremely High Quality Product
This purchase was worth getting. This was more expensive than some of the other options in this category so I hesitated on purchasing this one at first. After getting it, a few things stand out: it's very high quality. The fabric feels nice, it looks nice. One great feature is the zipper is easy to locate and it's orange and well built, so it's really easy to put it on the mattress. The stitching, the material, all of it seemed to have a lot of attention to detail. So far, it seems great. It seems extremely well made. Although I didn't purchase any comparable products, I feel like I made the right decision and it feels like a lot of detail and care was put into this product and it's worth the small premium over possibly cheaper alternatives.

Precaution, Prevention, Defense or Battlefield.
I left this feedback for all the items I purchased and listed here in prevention of BED BUGS.I live in a apartment building. 10 years ago in the city I live in I never heard any mention of bedbugs. Now I hear it everywhere. I purchased the following just as a precaution.Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Dust Mite Proof Pillow Encasement, Standard, Set of 2Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Bed Bug Proof Mattress Encasement,80-Inch by 60-Inch, QueenHospitology Sleep Defense System Bed Bug Proof Box Spring Encasement, 80-Inch by 60-Inch, QueenBEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster TrapDiatomaceous Earth Food GradePest PistolMineral OilI read online many, many, many different suggesting and opinions. These are most popular ideas, and I agree with them.My bed is brand new and I wanted some protection.Every thing listed I purchased on Amazon is good quality and no complaints. I was very nervous the Hospitality Sleep Defense items would have a plastic feel, but it is not the case. The Hospitality Sleep Defense for the pillows and bed have a nice soft and smooth feel to them. They make my bed and pillows feel smoother and softer. They are a good quality and feel like they will last a long time and not rip. They are very big for even the biggest of mattresses or box springs.First of all the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade box i received is big. I used this for my entire apartment and still have more then half left in the box. Using Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, and Pest Pistol (online comments are you can also use empty plastic ketchup and mustard bottles) I dusted all long the walls under the carpet (use a dollar store paintbrush to keep it nice and neat), and in some places I lifted the carpet up and sprayed a little on the carpet tacs that hold the carpet in place. You do not have to spray it heavy, only a light coating. Then I took the electrical cover panels and sprayed inside the walls, USE CAUTION, TURN OFF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL SUPPLY. You might want to consider wearing a dollar store face mask, the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade will blow around a little, if you get carried away with it. Make sure you spray into all holes and crevasses (even in the bathroom) behind the medicine cabinet if there are gaps, in the trimming along the walls, closets, everywhere!!! Every room, every space!!!!!!!. Online reports and comments are that bed bug like hiding behind the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, behind mirrors or photos hanging on walls, dressers, dressers drawers, light shades. I even sprayed a little on my bed frame. Keep in mind, if the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade gets wet, it is useless and you will have to reapply it. Also note, if you shampoo your rugs a couple times a year, like me, you may have to reapply Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade after your rugs dry.Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade kills all kinds of bugs, cutting into their hard shell bodies and sticks into their joints. This definitely gives me peace of mind when I sleep or laying in my bed during the day. Bed bugs usually feed in the middle of the night, but if they get hungry they will come out all times of the day.Isolate your bed from the walls and the floors. Only have the legs of your bed touching the floor. Keep blankets from touching the walls and floor. Nothing should be touching your walls or floor. ISOLATION! Computer power cords and cell phone cords should not be on your bed when you sleep. Although there are online reports of bedbugs climbing up to the ceiling and falling down/jumping onto beds, I am not that paranoid. Because it is a death sentence for them, they cannot escape or live in the mattress or lay eggs in the mattress because of the Hospitality Sleep Defense.Always make sure you wash and dry your blankets and sheets every week. Dry for at least 20-30 minutes on hot.BEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster Trap are very strong and very big. I was very surprised! I was nervous, I have a QUEEN size bed with wheels under each leg. But they fit with room to spare. Use the Mineral Oil in the outer trench of the Coasters. Bed Bugs cannot swim in it, they sink to the bottom and drowns them. But dummy me, my queen bed frame has 5 legs, one leg to support the middle of the bed. I used them on my sofa also. Good luck if you find yourself with bedbugs or using these as a prevention and defense. If you do not have the time or energy, you can hire an exterminator which will cost thousands and thousands of dollars. I am the type of person I do not like to use pesticides in my apartment unless I have to. I never use those insect fumigators, they spray pesticides everywhere and you will eventually absorb them into your skin, from the floors and furniture. If you already have bed bugs, I suggest vacuuming every inch of your bed, on your bed, box, and frame head board. Then do your furniture, sofa and recliners. Sofas, couches and recliners are much harder to eradicate bedbugs from, you might want to think about trashing it. Please, before you trash your furniture, damage your furniture so no one else takes it and gets a bedbug nightmare. When you are finished vacuuming, remove the bag, put in a plastic trash bag and TAPE IT SHUT and put outside away from your house in a trash can. They start spraying the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade everywhere.Bed Bugs are smart creatures, they are very good at hiding until they are hungry. And they will search you out like a blood hound dog.Good luck!

Dog accident? No problem! Phew!
Amazing cover. I bought a few to keep all my mattresses protected, not from anything in particular, but I liked the idea of a keeping my mattresses pristine. I've had these for at least 3 years, and this past week one my dogs had an accident on the bed. Urine soaked through the flat sheet, the fitted sheet, a mattress pad, and I was so bummed to see the encasement also soaked. HOWEVER, when I removed it from the mattress, the mattress was as clean as ever! I was so elated. Certainly an excellent buy for $40 to protect an expensive mattress. I know waterproofness can wear in the wash and depend on the accident itself, so I'll specify that I've washed and dried the encasement as directed just once when I received it, the volume of liquid was pretty significant (likely the full bladder of a 60lb dog), and the accident was discovered within 20 mins or so, so it wasn't sitting for an extended duration (like overnight). The encasement is a pretty good fit and doesn't slip around. Its not something I even notice is on the bed. Its as though it isn't there at all, so its as comfortable as my bed. It is not thick, in terms of being plush, which is perfect.Great buy! Would recommend.

Product seems worth the $$$
I had a bedbug problem that I treated with DE (foodgrade). That one thing got rid of the pesky critters. I bought a new, thick mattress and the cover went on easily with 2 people. Had no problem with the zipper, didn't use the "zipper lock". Didn't think it necessary. I sleep hot and haven't really had a problem with the cover holding heat. It does not make any noise (any noise you might hear would just be the air slowly escaping), it does not hold air. Don't know if it is waterproof, didn't need that feature, haven't checked it out. Don't know if its bedbug proof or not, as I said the DE got rid of my infestation. If you have the creepy crawlers, just buying a mattress protector isn't going to keep you from getting bit. You don't have to call in an exterminator, nor do you have to purchase anything expensive. DE is cheap and goes/lasts a long way/time. Do the research on how to get rid of them, its easy... can't believe how frustrated I was trying to decide which way to go to get rid if the bugs. Not having a lot of $$$. I opted for the easiest and cheapest way to go. It was a no-brainer and started working immediately. This cover is a nice cover for the price and is much better than some, and if some think its keeping the bugs at bay, well then thats fine too. I'm on the fence with that one. I bought it to help with allergies (dust mites, etc...) and it has seemed to help with that, I haven't woken all stuffed up like I used to. So thats the selling point for me! I can breathe a little better since putting on a new bamboo mattress that is way thick and it firs perfectly with no excess. Hope this helps someone, especially if its only to find out about DE for the bugs, remember to get foodgrade and its Diatomaceous Earth. (DE for short) safe for children and pets, its even good to eat for many health related problems. As I said, do the research... what do you think a computer is for??? P.S. I did not have any of the yellow stains on my cover, but I kept it in original packaging until I bought the new mattress. Maybe any pest control residue had "vanished" by the time the package was opened for use?

Happy With My Purchase
I can't say anything yet concerning durability, however, upon opening this product, it feels quality. I purchased the king size and was concerned about turning the mattress up on end to install.. No need, I was able to lift each corner and slide this encasement on with no trouble! Love It! It feels nice and I would buy again from first look. I also purchased the standard and queen pillow encasements, which appear to be the same nice quality as the mattress encasement.

The best at this price..... and possibly the only option at this price depending on what size you're looking for....
I don't have bedbugs but I work at an institution that does (and that might as well laugh in the faces of any staff that gets them) I work with with disabled residents whom I have a good enough rapport with that I get a lot of not quite consensual hugs. Sweet, kind of, but unreassuring when they refuse to put their potentially bedbug infested clothing and linens on high in the dryer my employer provides them. I also have the most rascally service dog (my first ally bully breed mutt) who can be found at my workplace midday snoring loudly while napping on her back on the bedbug infested carpets. She waits until she thinks I am not looking and then she will try to cuddle up on the bedbug infested couches with whichever client smells like s/he has the worst hygiene Also, the ever non-discriminator she likes to try to cuddle with the sleeping homeless of San Francisco when we're out on walks. I give her a lot of baths but I'm still never sure. I wanted some piece of mind without having to dodge ever hug from my clients and have to keep my dog on leash at every park in city limits. My dog also has a bad habit of sneaking onto my bed and spite peeing in my bed after every time I kick her out for sneaking in. (She's allowed to be on the bed but only if I'm in it.) My current 15 year old mattress has an almost $50 Allerease Ultimate cover on it that was put on there one dog ago. That cover works well despite a small tear it got when I was putting it on that I had to tape up (the Allerease cover tore easily over a regular Full matress). The Allerease sleeps very cool, is highly liquid resistant, helped my allergies, was virtually undetectable below the sheets, and hadn't gotten any bedbugs despite the neatly taped up hole. WIN!Hence, when I tried to buy new covers for my brand new folding Full size foam futon base and my brand new Full size custom made Japanese shikibuton matress I was going to go with Allerease Ultimate again. However, those covers were much too big! There were limited options for low profile covers that protect against both bedbugs and rascal dogs and this was one of the few. I bought the Low Profile Full for my folding foam base matress. It didn't fit perfect and it did make it moderatetly more difficult to fold/unfold but it went on easy enough and was sturdy enough not to tear when I put it on by myself (unlike the Allerease). I put a high thread Queen size duvet cover on top it (queen size to account for folding and the fact it's thicker than a duvet) and slept on top of that for the first week or so until my custom-stuffed Full size shikibuton matress came in..It sleeps warmer than the Allerease despite being a thin foam matress on cement on the ground level of my loft. My last matress that had the Allerease Ultimate on it was a thick pillow top extra firm matress on a wood base in a loft that is ten feet up from my current sleeping spot. It hasn't been a big deal but it's significant enough to notice. It appears to be water resistant and likely waterproof. I don't know about bedbugs but I think it would probably deter them and I'm neither daft nor dumb nor daring enough to test that one. But it doesn't have a duct taped hole in it from putting it on by myself so it would probably work okay. This one is definately more sturdy than the Allerease Ultimate but it's more noticable to me. Thankfully, it's not a crinkly plastic so it's not too noticable. I notice but my bestie (who loafs on my matress watching TV) and my dates don't notice. The rascal dog who is easily the most pathetic service dog I've ever trained is scared lying on plastic tarping and so she either doesn't notice or her desire for sleeping in the big bed trumps it.I will admit I still like the Allerease Ultimate slightly better.... but the price is way better on this one, too. It also comes in low profile which I needed.I ordered it again, this time in Ultra Low Profile for my new shikibuton matress that just came in. Shikibutons are not thick like their American mattress cousins and despite my custom cotton/wool blend extra thick custom shikibuton order, my new matress is far more trim than it's cousins from out West. Indeed, a Sleep Defense System cover was pretty much my only option without dismal reviews off a very short list. I liked the last product well enough I was like, "Oh, what the heck."It's a four star product. However, with the price and shipping service I got when I ordered it from Hospitology I've decided it's close enough to five stars to round up.

HOSPITOLOGY PRODUCTS Zippered Mattress Encasement (King - low profile)
I bought the King size version of the Low Profile Mattress Encasement Cover and I can confirm it fits a 7" thick Mattress perfectly!! It could probably go to as high as 9" without overly stretching it (if you wanted to). But 7" was a perfect fit. It was relatively easy to put on too (even for one person) Two people would be easier but its not hard to put on. (10 minutes at best). The quality is great. The material is not rigid or stiff, but neither is it overly stretchy and clingy. It feels very soft and has a slight silky feel to the touch. By that I mean it feels very well made. The Zipper is smooth to open and close (not scratchy) and it opens up all the way across and then around half of one side of the mattress cover. Perfect for installation (and / or removal) I can't say how waterproof it is as I didn't need it for that (or test it). But it appears to have some decent water resistance. I put a Foam Topper on top of my encasement cover and it works very well that way. (I could have also put the foam topper inside the encasement along with the mattress too) as there was enough room for it to fit inside (but I prefer the way I did it). As I see it, if you need a "low profile" encasement cover I can highly recommend this product. Its quite pricey, but quality is rarely cheap. I'm very happy with this purchase. The Seller got it to me (from the USA to Canada) in record time. It came exactly as described and was well protected inside the shipping box. There are "No" negatives at this point to this purchase (except maybe the price) Again (just to be clear) For anyone needing an encasement cover for a Mattress that's between 5"- 9" thick, this one will fit those sizes perfectly. Its advertised as Low Profile, but that's mainly because its not High Profile. (as in over 10") To put this little review in a Nut Shell, I can honestly say "Look no further" if you're searching for a quality encasement Mattress cover in the 5" - 9" thick dimensions. This is the one. Happy!

NOT BED BUG PROOF
Does NOT prevent bed bugs as advertised as “bed bug proof.” It just helps them hide better on the mattress protector and between the zippers and hidden corners. They can walk on it freely and are actually able to hide even better, increasing the infestation more than before. I took it and threw it out with the bugs that were on it. The only thing it did was stop them from going into the mattress itself, since the zipper is sealed properly, and it prevents fluids from soaking onto the mattress. That’s the only advantage if you don’t have a bed bug issue. The product is overpriced and not cheap compared to what’s on the market, and the “bed bug proof” claim is not true.
